Wendy Davis made national headlines in 2013 for filibustering anti-abortion legislation in the Texas Senate. Now the former Democratic state senator is poised for more national attention as the inspiration for a dramedy series in development at NBC. Written by Jennifer Cecil, the untitled project centers on a female Democratic senator who, after losing the Texas governor’s race, gets her world turned upside down. In the vein of The Good Wife, while she pieces her pride back together, she goes to work in the law firm of her best friend — a black male Republican — and discovers that with...

The Holocaust - Night Will Fall “Today it is the unborn child; tomorrow it is likely to be the elderly or those who are incurably ill. Who knows but that a little later it may be anyone who has political or moral views that do not fit into the distorted new order?” – Attributed to Dr. Mildred Jefferson People are desensitized to violence every day – there is so much of it in real life, in computer games, and on television. The plots of Hollywood enhance cruelty, senseless and twisted insanity, tribal violence, wars, gang violence, and drug violence. Jihadi...

In an interview with Terry Gross for her "Fresh Air" program on NPR Monday, Univision anchorman Jorge Ramos provided a glimpse into his reasoning on immigration. As seen in the excerpts below, Ramos makes no distinction between "undocumented immigrants" and legal immigrants. He believes that since Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) are Latinos whose parents immigrated to the United States they should support illegal immigration. It is irrelevant to Ramos that that their parents came legally. Here it is clear that Ramos's argument benefits from the change in terminology for the national immigration discussion. The term "immigrant"...

Spending nary a dime, Donald Trump has leapfrogged a large field of presidential wannabees to take a commanding lead in the race for the Republican nomination for president. Anyone in that position who had unlimited financial resources and who truly wanted to win the nomination would have already unleashed wall-to-wall ads in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, and would be assembling a massive ground-game in those states. Why? Because if Trump won those primaries convincingly, it would be all over but the shouting. Such a candidate would also be fielding ads and building organization in the compressed March...

Comedian Jay Leno doesn't think Donald Trump will last in the GOP presidential race, and predicts he'll exit when his poll numbers drop. “You know he will,” Leno said Wednesday of the GOP front-runner on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "You know he’s going to drop out. As soon as he drops in the polls, he’s gone.” Leno admitted he appreciated the comedy material in the 2016 race, citing former Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-Md.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) as two White House hopefuls he finds amusing. “My favorite guy right now is a guy I talked about last night, Martin O’Malley,”...

Media mogul and creator of the Fox Broadcasting Company, Barry Diller made it clear today he has no intention of seeing Donald Trump become the next President of the United States. The fellow billionaire went so far as to suggest to CNBC that should Donald Trump win he would, “move out of the country, or join the resistance.” Interestingly, Diller’s comments come just forty-eight hours after a D.C. Whispers report included this information regarding an effort by powerful Mainstream political and media figures to successfully terminate the Trump campaign: “…It was also stated that news media executives at each the...

"We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing-grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills. We shall never surrender." - Winston Churchill - August 20, 1940In June 1940 things were looking bleak for Britain. The French army had collapsed...

I would like to have George Washington come back from the dead for one day. I’d stand there and look at George, wearing those tight socks and that funny white wig, and I’d ask him the question: “George, what do you think about Donald Trump?” I’m not sure George would know how to respond. I certainly don’t. The Donald’s phenomenon has been the big political story of the summer, interrupted only for short periods of time when someone else loses some more emails or resigns from Congress or visits from the Vatican. All those other things are interesting, to be...

Miley Cyrus may have hosted the SNL Season 41 premiere, but the show was all about applauding Hillary Clinton—and not just when she appeared. Live From New York…it’s a Hillary Clinton campaign ad. On Saturday night, Studio 8H was briefly remodeled into a pop-up Ready For Hillary campaign headquarters for the 41st season premiere of Saturday Night Live. The guest of honor herself even showed up for a heavily teased set, one that was tailor-made to lampoon the two biggest critiques of her persona—that her presidential ambition can at times read as deranged entitlement and desperation, and that she lacks...

An actor best known for his roles in the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Criminal Minds" got into an argument with a girlfriend, choked her and was arrested, police said Thursday. Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander Harris on "Buffy" from 1997 to 2003 and Kevin Lynch on "Criminal Minds" from 2007 to 2014, faces charges of robbery, obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief, Saratoga Springs police Lt. Bob Jillson said. The girlfriend told police officers who were called to a downtown hotel on Wednesday night that she had gone to return property to Brendon and told him she...

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 It seems Jennifer Lawrence’s thoughts on Donald Trump echo Katniss Everdeen’s feelings toward President Snow. For the uninitiated, that means she’s not a fan. During a lively conversation with the three leads of the final installment of The Hunger Games franchise, Mockingjay — Part 2, the Republican presidential candidate became the topic of conversation. “If Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world,” says Lawrence. Her co-star Liam Hemsworth feels the same: “I’ll back you up on that,” he adds. Josh Hutcherson, the third lead in the massive franchise,...

Vincent Price created Snowden in a lab. When you’re looking for someone who can intelligently discuss the world of international espionage and Edward Snowden, there’s at least a small chance that choosing someone with the Twitter handle “@fart” is a mistake. No, scratch that, there’s a 100% chance that it’s a mistake. Apparently, there’s also a 100% chance that the fine folks who run CNN’s sister network, Headline News, will make that mistake. Yesterday, during a segment discussing Snowden’s new Twitter presence, the Nancy Grace network featured a guest named “John Hendren.” Evidently, they thought they were booking an Al...

Donald Trump’s “60 Minutes” interview aired Sunday, and at least one viewer loved it, writing “Brilliant Mr. Trump, he is so Awesome!! And real.” And that viewer was–Trump, himself, who is no stranger to self-congratulations. Donald J. Trump ✔ ‎@realDonaldTrump "@truthshallbe: @60Minutes @realDonaldTrump Been watching!!! Brilliant Mr. Trump, he is so Awesome!! And real." 7:56 PM - 27 Sep 2015 But plenty of others shared the sentiment that the GOP frontrunner did well in the interview with CBS News host Scott Pelley....

Majority of Fox News commentators and guests seem to prefer anybody but Donald Trump. If this type of bias continues, it remains to be seen if conservatives, the backbone of their audience, will remain loyal to the network. Stay tuned Ever since it was launched in 1996, Fox News has enjoyed an ever growing television audience. Talk show host Rush Limbaugh often promoted Fox News in the early years of the network, helping to establish the connection with conservatives across the country. In fact, thanks to Rush and others on talk radio, Fox News enjoyed tremendous ratings growth over the...

Anyone who is viewing the battle between Donald Trump and Fox News as a representative battle of thin-skinned ego is entirely missing the point.

Trump is not just taking on the construct of progressive ideology that has undermined the essence of American exceptionalism; Trump is not just exposing the immense number of faux-conservatives in media and political punditry; Trump is not just allowing us to see the scope of anti-American interest; no, he’s taking on the very selfish foundation they’ve used to sell out our country. Heck, he’s taking on all the “Decepticons†simultaneously.

Recent media coverage of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has noted that the loudmouthed billionaire currently leading the Republican field in public opinion polls has been increasingly eager to complain to his audiences about how the “dishonest” media is covering his campaign. Floating theories about NBC suppressing coverage of its own polls in order to report on other findings less friendly to Trump and about the heat on the stage at CNN’s debate last week, the real estate mogul and former reality television star has come across as a little bit paranoid. Of course, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t meant they...

It’s remarkable watching Donald Trump eviscerate the mainstream media. If this was “The Matrix” he’s Neo. If this was “Star Trek,” I’d be like Spock studying a new intelligent life in the universe that feeds off its own popularity: the more energy put into killing it, the stronger it gets. Trump is the hate eater; he digests abhorrence and excretes devotion. “Fascinating,” the Spock in me says, watching Trump effortlessly turn “60 Minutes” host Scott Pelley into Jell-O, then deliver his own sound bite right on cue. It wasn’t even challenging for the master of manipulation, like Bruce Lee playing...
