For the past several weeks it seemed as if Germany had truly become the promised land for Mideast asylum seekers, primarily those seeking to escape the Syrian civil (and global proxy) war, but according to various media reports, also a material number of "ISIS-linked terrorists." Then it all came crashing down earlier today when Germany's beloved by all refugees "Mutti" said genug, and with one decision shut down the border with Austria in the process unraveling decades of customs-union progress (following promptly by the Czech Republic doing the same, with Italy expected to follow suit in the hours ahead). Ironically,...

The UN refugee agency expects at least 1.4 million refugees to flee to Europe across the Mediterranean this year and next, according to a document seen by Reuters on Thursday, a sharp rise from initial estimates of 850,000. "UNHCR is planning for up to 700,000 people seeking safety and international protection in Europe in 2015," reads the document, a revision to the agency's existing appeal for funds. "... It is possible that there could be even greater numbers of arrivals in 2016, however, planning is based for the moment on similar figures to 2015."(continued)

She described him as cute! When he arrived in NYC to head up the IRC he was feted by George Soros, Bill Clinton and Samantha...

Says They Will Only Take in Persecuted Christians The Slovakian government will now be accepting Christians who are persecuted by Muslims. The UN is telling Slovakia that they must, as well, take in Muslims, but Slovakia is firmly responding: 'We will only take Christians!' Interior ministry spokesman Ivan Metik said that Muslims would not feel at home in Slovakia because there are no mosques in the nation. He said: We could take 800 Muslims but we don't have any mosques in Slovakia so how can Muslims be integrated if they are not going to like it here? Babar Baloch, Central...

The Kenyan government has given the UN three months to relocate the world's largest refugee camp over the border to Somalia. Nairobi has vowed a tough response following the recent massacre by Somali jihadists. The United Nations Dadaab camp in northeast Kenya houses hundreds of thousands of refugees from war-torn Somalia, and authorities have in the past accused Islamists of hiding within the camp. "We have asked the UNHCR to relocate the refugees in three months, failure to which we shall relocate them ourselves," Deputy President William Ruto said in a statement on Saturday, adding that the government will secure...

Tel-Aviv Yafo's mayor, Ron Hulda'i, reacted Sunday to the demonstration by tens of thousands of infiltrators from Africa, who assembled at Rabin Square and demanded that the government allow them to stay in Israel and work legally. "The demonstration today is only the beginning of a process that unfortunately will only escalate,” he predicted, “and I regret to say that we will see violence in the streets.” Hulda'i accused the government of ignoring the difficulties that the infiltrators face, as well as the difficulties faced by residents who suffer from the immigrants. He demanded that a clear government policy be...

The United Nations on Sunday night criticized Israel’s policy towards illegal immigrants, as thousands of them protested in Tel Aviv, demanding that Israel recognize them as refugees and grant them asylum. The UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) released a statement in which it accused Israel of “sowing fear and chaos” among the illegal aliens who, it said, should be referred to as “asylum seekers” and not “infiltrators”. “We demand that the government examine the asylum requests of the foreigners, and stop the large-scale arrests in south Tel Aviv,” said the UN agency, adding that while it supported the...

New York, US - UN agencies on Friday expressed alarm at the increasing rate of human rights violations in the Central African Republic (CAR), following reports of burnt and abandoned villages, massive displacement, as well as looting and torture. PANA in New York reported that members of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), along with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), travelled last week to the town of Paoua, 500 kilometres north of the capital, Bangui. They found seven villages burnt to the ground and deserted and the eighth partially burnt with...

Snip: We have been importing jihadists for years now with Muslim immigration programs under the Refugee Resettlement program, diversity visas and religious visas. The Refugee Council USA says: “The U.S. has historically maintained a policy of admitting refugees of special humanitarian concern into the country.” Yet what that means in practice is very different from what most Americans would expect. It’s always a shock to people when they first find out how Refugee Resettlement works. Instead of giving refuge to the religious minorities that are persecuted, oppressed and subjugated under the Shariah, we are opening the floodgates to Islamic supremacists...

Angelina Jolie is doing it for the girls. The 37-year-old actress – and UNHCR Goodwill ambassador – has extended her generosity to a small village outside Kabul, Afghanistan, where she has opened an all-girls elementary school, she told E! News. The doors of the school are already open – there are 200 to 300 students enrolled – and the location was targeted not only because there is a high-refugee population, but it's also a place where the education of boys is valued higher than that of girls. Jolie – who has six children, including three daughters, with fiancé Brad Pitt...

The U.S. Senate recently passed a precedential decision regarding refugees, UNRWA and the Palestinian Arabs.... ..... This paradox is known to anyone who has eyes in his head. It has many causes. One is the strange definition of an UNRWA refugee as those who: “... were in the territory of Palestine between June 1946 and May 1948 and lost both their homes and livelihoods as a result of the Arab- Israeli conflict.” But over time their descendants also came into the framework, and strangely enough, and contrary to the definition, those who were not needy in the first place, and...

Christians are in imminent danger across the world, and yet they are being refused refugee status, while Muslim refugee immigration goes on unimpeded. U.S. policy regarding refugee resettlement would shock most Americans if they only knew. The United Nations picks who gets to come to the U.S. as a refugee. The mandate of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is to determine which of the world's huddled masses comes to the U.S. as humanitarian refugees. And predictably, this U.N. body is favoring Muslims. Christians from Muslim lands are being refused refugee status. This is occurring despite the fact that...

Researchers at the Center for Near East Policy Research have produced a new documentary film entitled “Palestinian Refugee Policy: From Despair to Hope.” The film shows just how deeply Hamas has penetrated UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency), the UN agency specializing in providing aid to PA Arabs. The film does this by using school posters and interviews with UNRWA teachers to highlight how the ideal of killing Israelis—rather than working for peace—has come to dominate a UN agency. “The system of indoctrination in the Palestinian schools and summer camps run by UNRWA is contrasted with what goes on...

UNRWA could use its resources to create a better future instead of relegating the descendants of the 1948 war to another generation in limbo. Talkbacks (7) There are 1.6 million people in the Gaza Strip, most of them in UNRWA (United Nations Relief Works Agency) “refugee” camps. With support from more than 35 major Western democracies, UNRWA could be dealing with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip from a strictly humanitarian point of view, and not as a political organization that maintains refugees in “temporary”camps for 63 years under the promise of return to villages from 1948 that no longer...

“There are over 550 million firearms in worldwide circulation. That’s one firearm for every 12 people on the planet. The only question is: how do we arm the other 11?” said the gun-running protagonist in the 2005 Nicolas Cage film Lord of War. The filmmakers based that character in part on real-life weapons dealer Viktor Bout, a former Soviet officer turned arms merchant on the black market. But was he just a businessman seeking a quick profit, or is there more to the story? The New American has previously reported on Bout’s ties to Russian intelligence, as well as his...

Dictatorships Leave Millions Homeless by: Emily Kanyi, June 18, 2009 Antonio Guterres, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has termed the drop in the number of refugees under the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) mandate as an “illusion.” According to a recent annual 2008 report released by the UN Refugee Agency on June 16, 2009, the global refugee statistics represent a drop of about 700,000 refugees from 2007. However, there are concerns that a surge of displacements in 2009 not reflected in the report have already offset the decline. “The numbers are growing again. In 2009, we...
