TOKYO, Aug. 11, Kyodo - A plane based on an U.S. carrier crashed off Iwojima Island around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, the Defense Agency said. The U.S. military has yet to contact Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force for help in the case, the agency said, adding the plane apparently crashed into the Pacific about 70 kilometers off the island.
