When I started making election predictions eight years ago, I had a very different perspective than I do today. I knew relatively little about the history of presidential elections or the geography of American politics. I had a good background in political science and statistics. So, unsurprisingly in retrospect, I focused on drawing confidence intervals from poll averages. Since then, I have learned substantially more history, soured somewhat on political science as an academic discipline, and have become much more skeptical of public opinion polls. Both political science and the political polls too often imply a scientific precision that I...

ONE FOR THE TEAM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYZVJoV0jC0&feature=player_embedded Yes, the Obamacare ruling was a heart-breaker. It was a disaster -- no two ways around it. But if you need a pep talk, Bill is your man. Find out what we need to do NOW! We can undo every one of these miserable affronts to our liberty if we decide to Conservatives out number Leftists 2 to 1. All we need to do is personally make sure that 5 people who would not have otherwise voted understand what’s at stake and get the voting booth on Nov 6th. If you believe as I do,...

It comes down to numbers. And in the final days of this presidential race, from polling data to early voting, they favor Mitt Romney. ~ snip ~ In addition to the data, the anecdotal and intangible evidence—from crowd sizes to each side's closing arguments—give the sense that the odds favor Mr. Romney. They do. My prediction: Sometime after the cock crows on the morning of Nov. 7, Mitt Romney will be declared America's 45th president. Let's call it 51%-48%, with Mr. Romney carrying at least 279 Electoral College votes, probably more.

CINCINNATI—Mitt Romney raised nearly $112 million for his presidential campaign and the Republican National Committee in the first half of October—putting him on pace for a potentially record-breaking fundraising month for his campaign. Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul announced the number in a message on Twitter. The total included cash raised between Oct. 1 and Oct. 17, according to the campaign. No further details were offered, such as the breakdown of how much money went to the Romney campaign versus the Romney Victory Fund, a joint committee formed between his campaign and the RNC. According to the campaign, the Romney effort...

PACK IT UP.. ROMNEY/RYAN, 4 and out.. It's OVER! THANK YOU CANDY! Without the need for a third Presidential debate, Candy Crowley's unabashed bias, made the next debate totally meaningless.. The fact that she, and the shameless display with her girlfriend last week, have stripped the veil of impartiality of the process, making Governor Mitt Romney appear to be a victim, something we never could have hoped for.. Now no one will need, or find it necessary, to watch the next debate, unless to scrutinize the antics of the moderator.. WOW, who'd a thunk?? The Economy, Benghazi, Jobs, Benghazi, Jobs,...

Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. – Jer 33:24 KJV Really?… Whom the Lord hath chosen? So when we have been cast down, even by the chastisement of the Almighty, consider not what others may think, say, or do.You are of them – which the Lord hath chosen.Though thinks look bleak, depression and grief are our companions, and the calendar is a frightful thing, it is not up...

The young serviceman convicted of plotting a massacre of his fellow soldiers near Fort Hood in Texas received dual consecutive life sentences today. Naser Jason Abdo, 22, sat in a Texas court today in a bizarre mask made of white cloth around his mouth and a black mesh covering over his hair and face, a Department of Justice official told ABC News. The life sentences were handed down for attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and for possession of a weapon in furtherance of a federal crime. Abdo got another 60 years for the attempted murder of "officers...

Ted Cruz gave an amazing victory speech after winning tonight’s primary runoff and handily defeating David Dewhurst. It’s the full speech minus about 11 minutes of Cruz thanking everyone who contributed to tonight’s big win.

HOUSTON — Ted Cruz, an insurgent backed by the Tea Party, defeated the candidate favored by Gov. Rick Perry on Tuesday in a runoff election for the Republican Senate nomination that revealed a wide rift in Texas between the party establishment and restless, anti-incumbent activists on the right. With the come-from-behind victory, he is heavily favored to win the Senate seat being vacated in November by Kay Bailey Hutchison and appears likely to become a star of the national conservative movement. Mr. Cruz, 41, is the latest conservative rebel to bring down an established party leader, tapping into simmering anger...

Newsweek may cease its print publication by the end of this year, according to IAC chief Barry Diller, who as of this week owns the majority stake in the company. During a conference call with analysts this morning, Diller suggested that the magazine would eventually transition to an online-only publication, and that changes would begin to take place as early as this Fall. "The transition will happen,” Diller said. "The transition to online from hard print will take place. We’re examining all of our options." UPDATE: IAC spokesperson Justine Sacco emails to clarify: [Diller] was speaking about the weekly print...

The Democrats "won" last week with their Obamacare Supreme Court victory. But that "victory" may be Pyrrhic, because the backlash is stratospheric! Conservatives are fired up, independents are worried, and Democrats are on the defensive. The SCOTUS "bounce" landed with a thud. The Campaigner-in-Chief's polling numbers are still bad. Democrat candidates are running away from Obama as fast as they can. Here in Missouri, for example, ObamaClaire McCaskill can't seem to remember her best bud Barry anymore. (I'm waiting for a rooster to crow.) The Democrats' War on the Middle Class--raising taxes, driving up the debt, punishing businesses, killing...

Chief Justice John G. Roberts is an evil genius. The ruling to uphold the Affordable Care Act is, on its face, a win for President Obama both because the media are saying it is and because it is the signature piece of legislation of his first term. But it may turn out to be a pyrrhic victory, as Roberts accomplished numerous, subtle victories for conservative Republicans. WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says the Supreme Court's decision to uphold his health care overhaul is a "victory for people all over the country" and will make their lives more secure. Obama says the decision upholds the fundamental principle that in America - the wealthiest nation on earth - no one should fall into financial ruin because of an illness.

1 Early in the morning, Jerub-Baal (that is, Gideon) and all his men camped at the spring of Harod. The camp of Midian was north of them in the valley near the hill of Moreh. 2 The LORD said to Gideon, "You have too many men for me to deliver Midian into their hands. In order that Israel may not boast against me that her own strength has saved her, 3 announce now to the people, 'Anyone who trembles with fear may turn back and leave Mount Gilead.' " So twenty-two thousand men left, while ten thousand remained. 4 But...

I call it a victory speech because that’s the way Santorum made me feel about his speech, even though only 18 votes currently gives Santorum the lead over Romney. Watch the whole thing as it was by far the best speech of the night, maybe even this contest
