Australia's unofficial national anthem, "Waltzing Matilda" is a song about suicide. How can that be? Scroll down in this post for a glossary: https://tujuhbelasan.com/2020/03/22/sustainable-development-9-waltzing-matilda-in-indonesian/ It is worth noting that the Indonesian revolutionary war slogan "Merdeka atau Mati" (Free or Dead) can be made to work well rhythmically with the English "You'll never catch me alive" cred he. At least I think so. Indonesia is an incredibly free country. The West cannot afford to ignore it as a balance to totalitarian China. Who agrees? I have not ignored this huge republic.

In 1975, the government of conservative Prime Minister Malcom Fraser held a plebiscite to choose a national song for Australia. Advance Australia Fair won in a field of four with 43%. The long standing national anthem, God Save The Queen came third with 19%. Waltzing Matilda was the choice of 28% including me. Sadly, in this matter, I am a bit too much like Nancy Pelosi. In my heart, I still don’t accept the result. Waltzing Matilda is the story of an itinerant man who gets caught by three mounted troopers after he stole a sheep. He commits suicide to...

A rock shelter in the Weld Range provides evidence of the oldest human occupation in the Mid-West region of Western Australia, a research project partnered between The University of Western Australia and Wajarri Traditional Owners has discovered. Funded by the Commonwealth Government and in collaboration with Wajarri heritage company Ethical Engagement Consultancy, the research project 'Weld Range Web of Knowledge' found new evidence to suggest that ancestors of Wajarri Native Title claimants have been present in the Mid-West region for more than 30,000 years. Samples for radiocarbon dating were collected by Wajarri Traditional Owners and archaeologists from UWA during an...

Regular viewers of Fox News are used to seeing popular host Megyn Kelly on their televisions every afternoon, but on Thursday morning Kelly made a special appearance during the morning to break some surprising information: according to her sources, the FBI was “shocked” to see a magistrate “waltz into” the hospital room of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and read him his Miranda rights. So why were they shocked? According to Kelly, the FBI was under the understanding that they would get much more time with Tsarnaev under the “public safety exemption” before he was read his rights. Adding to the shock: the...

Australian fans are delighted after the International Rugby Board gave the go-ahead for "Waltzing Matilda" to be sung before Wallabies' matches at the World Cup. Reuters Photo Australian Prime Minister John Howard led a chorus of dismay after the IRB ruled last month that only a country's national anthem could be sung before Cup games. But after considering a request from the Australian Rugby Union, IRB directors meeting on Friday decided to let Matilda rip at the tournament in Australia starting on October 10. "(We) recognise the importance and significance of Waltzing Matilda to the Australian nation," the IRB said....
