Over the Goldblog transom came an e-mail from CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, about anti-Muslim hate crimes in the U.S. The e-mail contained a link to an alarming Huffington Post story by Mark Potok headlined "FBI Reports Dramatic Spike in Anti-Muslim Hate Violence." Three Muslims from Indonesia were 'distraught and afraid' after their boss at a suburban Taipei factory forced them to eat pork over a seven-month period or face punishment, a Taiwan rights group said today. Taipei prosecutors indicted Chang Wen-lin, the owner of Shin Hua Hang Fashion Co, on April 26 for forcing the three women to consume pork during their September 2008 to April 2009 employment. An Arab-American owner of a Chicago-area Dunkin' Donuts store has to give up his franchise after he lost his long-running legal battle with the restaurant chain over his religious objections to selling pork products. A lawyer for Walid Elkhatib said Tuesday that his client is in the process of removing Dunkin' Donuts signs from his Westchester outlet, but apparently not fast enough for the company.
