Most voters believe the popularity boost President Obama has received following the killing of Osama bin Laden will disappear quickly, according to a new poll conducted for The Hill. Almost three in five likely voters think the “bin Laden bounce” will vanish within three months, the poll indicates. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 23% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -17 (see trends). Carter's comments came after he met with the top Hamas leaders last week in Syria. Carter also says Hamas won't undermine Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' efforts to reach a peace deal with Israel. He says Hamas is ready to accept a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza.
