Grouchy Looney Tunes character Elmer Fudd will no longer be hunting wabbits using his signature single-barrel hunting rifle. Warner Bros’ reboot of the show dubbed “Looney Tunes Cartoons” that airs on HBO Max will be stripping Fudd of his gun and will instead arm him with a scythe in his pursuit of the slippery Bugs Bunny. “We’re not doing guns,” Peter Browngardt, the executive producer of the new show, told The New York Times. “But, we can do cartoony violence — TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in.”

CANTON, Texas -- The father of a high school football player shot and wounded the team's coach Thursday, then fled in a truck loaded with weapons and tried to kill himself by slashing his wrists, authorities said. Jeffrey Doyle Robertson, 45, went to the school just after classes started and shot coach Gary Joe Kinne in the chest, apparently with a .45-caliber pistol, police said. KAMPALA (Reuters) - Thirty-one Ugandan prison inmates escaped when their guards ran off to chase a rabbit, a newspaper said on Friday. The prisoners were digging in a garden near their prison in northeastern Uganda when a rabbit shot out of a nearby bush. All five guards set off in pursuit.
