Franklin was born in 1706 at Boston. He was the tenth son of a soap and candlemaker. He received some formal education but was principally self-taught. At 17, he obtained employment as a printer. At 19 he then sailed to London... (picked goodly lwimen, had excellent kids, made a bunch of bucks . Took good care of them each and all, and a great many more. 1754, he repped Pennsylvania at the Albany Congress unite the colonies during the French and Indian War. 1757-62 and 1764-75, resided in England, agent for Pennsylvania and later for Georgia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. He underwent a political metamorphosis. 1775 returned to Philadelphia
drafted the Declaration of Independence. 1776 (age 70) set sail once again for Europe, beginning a career as diplomat rest of his life. 1787 elected as first president of the Pennsylvania Society for Promoting the Abolition of Slavery.
