lol.

everyone has a gripe.

Why should biofuels not have to compete without mandates, earn your market share or go into another line of business.

Bio-fuels may be the way out of our debt. Put together a “Manhattan project” type effort to make bio-fuels the number one export and use the tax revenue to pay off the debt. Turn us from an oil dependent nation to an oil exporting nation.

I agree... I’m in TX.
What if he turns the switch back on? The Biofuel companys will have to scramble to come back on line.

Except that bio-fuels such as corn ethanol take more energy to produce than they create as fuel.

True, and we do need to be smart about this no doubt. But there are bio-diesel / algae diesel methods that are more viable.

I believe that's true only if the process uses external energy sources to distill the alcohol, such as burning natural gas.

However, there are closed-loop systems that feed the residue corn mash from the distillation process to animals, and then use methane from the resultant animal manure to boil off the alcohol. That way, the corn in effect fuels the distillation process with no outside energy input.

I've read these closed-loop systems produce 40 times more BTUs in ethanol than they consume in production.
