Got my surgery date today, in just 2 weeks.
I am a bit scared by all this.
OK, I understand.
It is easy to go down the rabbit hole. I have done that myself, so I appreciate the advice is not so easy.
Try to consider the best outcome, and plan for the worst. That way you are not “shocked” if you have to swing that way. BUT...what sometimes sounds horrible, is not. And I found through the years of parent and relative operations there are a lot of things we can live without. A few inches of colon would suck, but its not “the end.”
Yes, recovery is a bitch.
But, there are thousands of people praying for you. Your family will be by your side, and your doctors are professionals who do this stuff every day.
I am optimistic for you. I will pray for your speedy recovery and for you to feel the love of those who are closest to you and those who are meeting you for the first time. That light will heal you and revive you. The prayers will help the doctors hands and eyes.
And don’t forget, morphine is a gift from God. Don’t be brave...accept the help and it will help you heal.
Hang in there. The wait is going to be the worst part.
You’re not being selfish. You have others that depend and love you.
I will be asking for prayers for you and your family.
I am surprised they are waiting if it involves your appendix at all. I was rushed to surgery and then a few days later the second surgery to remove part of colon after the cancer was confirmed. In hospital 11 days. Of course my appendix had ruptured but doc said the whole thing was very rare as my appendix had built walls around itself in effort to keep poison out of system. It had probably partially burst before. Yours sounds similar to me from your description. Make sure you have a good surgeon. If you do not trust him, get another one!!
My Prayer is that you and your entire family are wrapped in the healing arms of GOD.
Thank you so much!
You know what I’d really like? For this to somehow get some better relation with my nieces, who lost their mother but who at 18 really do not have a relationship with me or my mother (who is very hurt by it). We all live 5 min from each other but despite my meager efforts, the teens have not really shown they give a damn about any of us not their friends or father’s relatives (don’t even ask, there).
Too much to ask, maybe, but it would be a nice icing on a cake of no-long-term-problems. It breaks my heart that we can’t seem to get through to them.
Done
My wife and I have been under the knife several times each. I spent last year on chemo after lung cancer surgery. Today we are healthy and happy. Don’t let your nerves destroy you. Surgery can be part of healing.
Good luck!
Asking people to pray for you is never selfish! Take it one day at a time .... you are in my prayers that God will comfort you, give you peace, bless you with His healing power and guide the hands of the surgeon and all who are involved with your procedure. MM
Prayers for you and your family.
Thanks, pen! It’s good to hear from someone with similar situation!
I don’t know if I have cancer as you did, but the mechanics sound similar. That scares me alot!
The surgeon does not want to wait long, hence he said we would make the surgery ASAP while his “elective” surgeries are Mon/Wed. (Just turns out they were able to give me a Mon, because something freed up.) He said waiting till after mid-Nov would be too long, which is what his elective schedule would’ve required. He also didn’t mind giving me time to consider it and get tests together and ask around. So, it’s only semi-urgent to him.
How was your recovery, especially after colon resection? Were you in great pain or nausea or anything?
Prayers for all concerned and please talk some more with your doctor about you concerns post op. Could be you will be feeling better than you have in a long time. Gos Bless and know you are in His loving hands.
You have my prayers for a successful surgery dearest the OlLine Rebel, but don’t worry about your recovery stuff right now. You need the surgery right away, as scheduled.
penelopesire is one of my best friends (in person) and I can attest to the fact that she is in great physical shape and beautiful.
Apparently, your surgeon still has some tests he wants you to have between now and your surgery date. Lord, hear our prayers.
Prayers for you and your family, Reb.
Aww...you just made my day my dearest friend!! You are too kind. I think you are beautiful! Inside and Out!
DITTO!
Plus, you’re amazing!
So much more accomplished than lazy old me...lol.
God bless and keep you, my cherished, “sweet” friend.
:)
I will not lie, the recovery was pretty tough pain wise, but the meds were very powerful in the hospital...lol.i had my own morphine pump...lol.
They did the whole operation with a laparoscope, so the scars are very minimal. I occasionally will have pain episodes even now, but even that seems to be getting better as long as I eat right and exercise. The hardest part will be getting out of bed the first few days after surgery. It is hard sitting up using stomach muscles after surgery.just make sure they give you a pain shot before you do it the first time. Did you have a catscan? They can usually see if it looks cancerous with that. I still have to go get catscans every 6 months now, but so far, cancer free.
Best wishes to you and prayers for a speedy recovery
Prayers going up.
Prayers up Reb!

We will look at it the other way around and express heartfelt gratitude at being entrusted to make joint prayers on your behalf. You honor us.
We ask most earnestly for God's Grace in your time of need and implore heaven to note your humility in your interest.
