Trump Attacks Jeff Bezos: Promises new libel laws
Weekly Standard ^ | February 26, 2016 | Jim Swift

At a rally in Fort Worth, Texas today, Donald Trump unloaded on Amazon.com founder and owner of the Washington Post Jeff Bezos.

"I have respect for Jeff Bezos, but he bought the Washington Post to have political influence. And I gotta tell you, we have a different country than we used to have. We have a different... He owns Amazon. He wants political influence so that Amazon will benefit from it. That's not right. And believe me, if I become president, oh do they have problems. They're gonna have such problems," said Trump.

Trump went on to promise that, if he becomes president, he will "open up our libel laws, so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money."

Yup. Reminded me a bit of the FleeBaggers we had here in Indiana when the Democrats weren’t getting their way and ran off to Illinois to keep from facing reality.

Bull. You obviously didn’t notice the wording which would make it dangerous for journalists to print lies. THAT is the purpose of his statement.

Bull back atcha.

Trump uses law suits to shut up anyone who apposes him or says 'mean' things about him.

He's a whiny narcissist who can't take criticism or anyone disagreeing with him. He's just planning his strategy to shut up any and all possible future criticism of him when he's where he thinks he will be -

You think O'buma is a narcissist?

You ain't seen nuttin' yet.

The man is a certifiable maniac, among other things.

ain't that the plain unvarnished truth - and ignorant besides.

Talks like a wanna be street thug - babbles with no "there" there - and no one notices...just hangs on his every ignorant word.

I really can’t believe how Trump just keeps taking on and slaying one dragon after another. This guy knows no fear. Today he said he is going to get rid of the rules LBJ put in that make it so churches can’t be political without losing their tax status
.
Every time he takes on a new dragon I cover my eyes thinking he will be burned to toast. But when I look up Trump is still standing tall and stronger. LOL

What the heck does Bezos, a billionaire from internet commerce, want with an old-style print-and-ink, financially failing newspaper? Its pretty clear - he's buying a political voice, the main media voice in the center of the Empire that is Washington DC

Quietly I think a 4 headed left leaning monster of Forbes #1, 2, 4 & 7 (Gates, Buffett, Bezos, Zuckerberg) are forming an alliance with a Quarter Trillion $ war chest to neutralize Trump.

Sadly, Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Absolutely. I’m sick of the lying yellow journalism media. It will be nice to see them sweat and squirm for a change. All of here have said or at least agreed at one time or another how we wish they would be taken down a notch. Most of us have at least agreed they lie more than they tell the truth. Well, maybe Trump will give them a good scare.

We seem to have a misunderstanding of the First Amendment here...

Cruz is out for Cruz.

ahahaha

That usually the way it works - A person running for office supports themselves

Unlike, of course, the humble, unassuming, courteous, respectful, unpretentious, altruistic Trump

Trump is a new Richard Nixon to me and sad to say, Nixon and his enemies in media were in conflict.

Nixon used the FCC ‘Fairness Doctrine’ as one of his weapons against mainstream liberal media and conservative radio preacher Carl McIntire.

I hope Trump isn’t going down that road.

Live and Let Live, Donald. Its a good slogan that sane and sober people live by.

In order to put someone in jail, there first has to be an indictment and a trial. He’s not running to be King of the U.S. I say this as someone who does not like Hillary.

Richard Nixon milked resentment of the liberal media when I was young, then used the FCC Fairness Doctrine on them and on a conservative radio preacher (Carl McIntire) who advocated for an all out World War 2 style military victory in Vietnam.

It was wrong and an attack on the First Amendment of the Constitution.

You mean the guy that stepped in and paid off people's mortgages on more than one occasion?

Cruz can't even scrape together a decent offering to his church.

I think at this point in the campaign we should all have recognized Trump’s penchant for over the top rhetoric by now. LOL!

Call it "over the top rhetoric", if you will. Laugh about it, if you will.

But recognize also that we have a candidate for president of the United States who is either unaware of the First Amendment or, given the power, is inclined to disregard it.

Hardly a laughing matter.
