“What a horrible job their parents have done...”

It is the public school system that has produced this generation who are willing to become communist and think that it is a good thing for the government to have the power to redistribute wealth.

Our youngest daughter, 18, a senior in a small (130 or so graduating) rural- (ish) public high school’s peer group is entirely for Bernie. I guarantee the same thing is going on across the country, and this is the younger edge of the demographic that is actively for communism; the even larger demographic bump of millennial Bernie voters are in college right now or just a few years post graduation from college.

My daughter is conservative but literally has to hide her political views at the risk of being shunned and ostracized, and she is not the least bit “nerdy” and has lots of friends.

Her Government class is headed by a teacher who encourages the liberals in his class and openly pushes his liberal positions. The teacher freely bashes Trump.

I am sure that this is happening everywhere. It has worked, the communist infiltration of our school systems, right from Harvard’s “flagship” example on down to the lowest grades.

There isn’t much to be done about it either, other than home school or pay for a private school which is a crap shoot also because their teachers have gone through the liberal training/brainwashing.

My daughter is conservative (barely hanging on though) because she realizes her parents are smart and we retain some powers to inoculate her against the poison teachings of communism. Sadly in many many families the teens just straight up don’t listen to their parents at all. Our daughter is not a follower, but it is very very tough for these teens to admit to any other position than “feelin’ the Bern...”

They do not like Hillary though. Hillary is toast.

Thanks for the post. My grandson is 17, a Junior in HS. He and his friends are all in for Bernie. I had a chance to spend 2 hrs with him as I drove him home on a 2 hour drive after he stayed the weekend. I talked for 2 hours straight. lol Just stuff that came to mind about the Founders, the Constitution, socialism, communism, free markets, taxes, regulations, IRS, EPA, . . you name it. He got an earful. He didn't say much but said he liked to hear my views. ?

Not sure if he took it in but he acted like it was all new to him. Man, oh man, fight on and keep up the good work with your daughter.

I wish there were hundreds of Hillsdale and Kenyon colleges out there. . and enough American loving conservative teachers to be the faculty.

I’m boring myself saying this, but the country could really benefit from a Sanders vs Trump election. Those are some good, stark Econ lessons we need to learn.

I have a kid the same age. They don’t learn civics, they don’t learn to really understand macro economics, and the teachers by their unions and education backgrounds are programmed to be leftists.

And I know how your daughter feels. We just joined a new Jewish community that is probably as lib as your daughter’s peers, so I have to be in the closet at the get togethers not to be ostracized. I always come out of the closet at some point and I never lie, but it’s so unpleasant when they turn from me as if I just peed in their wine spritzer. I’m dreading it as usual.

At my son’s elementary school I had really made some friends of some of the moms and then “But you CAN’T be conservative: you’re so smart!” And dropped socially. Sigh.

One of my granddaughters told me she was looking for someplace to move if Trump got elected.

I told her to find someplace really nice because I’d go there if Hillary is elected.

That surprised her.

Sincere thanks for the replies. It is good to know that I am not/we are not alone in our struggle to counteract the communist influence running rampant in the gov’t schools. At least we are trying to guide vulnerable young adult family members and others close to us who are in this age group to another worldview.

They have bought the deeply flawed idea that is being sold to them that redistribution is more charitable, without thinking about the fact that WHO they are giving this enormous redistribution power to and WHO they are allowing to redistribute their wealth FOR them is a key and scary concept that is not being introduced to them, deliberately, of course.

They are extremely peer oriented, more so than any generation in history due to social media eroding parental influence, and it is not going to be easy to turn them around until they get their paychecks and see the gov’t’s “share”. This has happened to my daughter who had $60.00 taken out of her Hollister paycheck last week after working many hours over April break and she was livid!!!

Yaelle - this is so accurate that they are not taught macro economics - they are not led to discover their critical thinking skills within, in general. Even a brief overview of Keynesian vs. classical economics will manifest the merits of the latter for someone who has even minimal deductive reasoning thinking skills - nothing of the sort is introduced as you point out.

It started it my own generation who were offspring of 60’s parenting- the college educated and more intellectual mothers in the playgroups 20+ years ago were filled with liberals then, and I had some troubles finding a niche as well.

Therefore - we deeper thinkers who understand the Trump phenomenon are actually “early adopters” of a deeper understanding that this country needs a new paradigm altogether, and one hopes(!) that America can work again with a successful patriotic businessman leading.

All of our daughters - one a mid-town Manhattan lawyer living in Brooklyn, one a struggling BFA Actress living in Harlem and one a nurse with a boutique organic diary farm in Otsego County are voting Trump. None have bought the lies of the so called feminists for Hillary. I think there are at least some in their demographic who will think for themselves and vote Trump.

By the way, I predict that the results of this poll will be about the same as the general election with Trump in front.
