At least he would not have rolled over as you want him to do if he vetoes the bill. And his refusal to cower would empower his base.

If the Congress overrides the veto by a two-thirds vote in each house, it becomes law without the President’s signature.
Then let congress have the courage of its convictions.
Even with an override, he doesn’t have to sign.

If Congress overrides, let them go to hell. Trump's name needn't be on it.
If Trump doesn't sign, and the MSM-influenced pygmies can't override, then there is room for negotiation.
If Congress overrides it, he does not need to sign it. It becomes law at that point. If he vetoes it, at least he is sticking to his guns.
