Drudge Report has morphed into the Sludge Report.
I remember years ago that someone asked President Clinton what he thought of Matt Drudge.
“Drudge is sludge” is what he was reported to have said.
And maybe, he was correct!
Out of an 11:45 video just under 2 minutes of MSM clips revealing why Drudge is now beloved by them.

I heard about Drudge back in 98 and decided to check him out. Did a quick peruse and on the side saw an ad about a “March for Justice” coming up in D.C. Lost in a conservative desert, the title interested, so I checked it out. Saw something called “Free Republic”. First and last time I ever checked out Drudge. Thank you Jim Robinson.

Here's a way to test it: did he have a bunch of stories about Tom Brady free agency move to Tampa Bay? If so, it's still Drudge running it, he obviously has a massive crush on Brady.
I take issue with the OP’s claim that Drudge is now featuring mostly links to “mainstream media.”
Seems to me an overabundance of links to The Sun, The Star, and The Globe— all tabloid trash publishing preposterous end times nonsense & mutant babies born to Asian peasants, mixed in with WaPo & NYT editorial hitpieces posing as “news.”

I went to his site back in '98 when he was the only guy covering l'Affaire Lewinsky. Rush mentioned him. I followed his site for a little while, and followed a link from Drudge to Free Republic and have not been back since. I don't think I have missed much.
