We used to call it “skip firing” when 556 was fired at the ground in front of folks getting low on asphalt. Rounds come in at low angles, but the go out almost level with the ground.

I agree. And since I’m older and not the best runner, it should be defended from 300-500 yards, where I am still proficient to a certain degree.

No armor penetration (who cares) but great on soft targets. It's a very long bullet that is all tungsten powder (heavy) in an epoxy matrix, contained in a thin shell of copper. There is no "copper base." It's just tungsten/epoxy in a thin envelope. They blow up.
