The ‘crawlers’ had better not be able to identify you. If they do and they survive, they’ll send an army of lawyers after you to drive you into insolvency. Add a uber-lib judge into the mix and you’re screwed.
While a fan of any number of .308 loadings, you have to consider muzzle flash even with a good suppressor at night.
The advantage of the .308 is standoff distance, which could provide some mitigation of the light signature.
There are some designs out there for .22 “bloop tubes”, (which qualify as Class III modifications) that might make the minimal muzzle flash of the .22 sub sonic even less significant. Proceed with caution and as you see fit.
