The Derek Chauvin Conviction is a Travesty for the Ages
dbdailyupdate ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 04/21/2021 4:10:39 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

So, Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all counts, which is no surprise given the rank jury intimidation engaged in by Democrat politicians, from the Minneapolis Mayor to members of congress and even to the Sock Puppet-in-Chief, who felt the need to weigh in and publicly demand a guilty verdict early on Tuesday. Of course, Biden probably thought he was talking about the OJ Simpson trial, but never mind, the message was sent to the un-sequestered jury, and the Democrat Party got its sacrificial lamb.

Thus, regardless of how we emotionally respond to the images of Chauvin holding his knee on George Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes until he expired – and they are indeed repugnant images – the fact of this case is that we now have a Minneapolis Police officer being convicted of 2nd and 3rd degree murder for doing his job exactly as he had been trained to do it by the Minneapolis Police Department.

So when we see the statistics of that Department having lost more than 20% of its officers over just the past year, we should not pretend to be surprised. And no one, least of all the Democrat politicians who run that city, should pretend to be surprised when that Department loses another 20% of its officers over the next 12 months or so. Nor should they be surprised when their Police Department finds it near-impossible to find qualified young people who are willing to join its ranks in the future.

This is the entirely predictable consequence of basing a trial of a police officer and the jury decision in that trial on pure emotion, rather than on the evidence at hand. The evidence at hand demonstrated pretty clearly that George Floyd, a life-long criminal with a history of beating his girlfriends and other violent behavior, was restrained by police as he was violently resisting arrest, and that Mr. Floyd died while in police custody of an overdose of fentanyl and other drugs that were in his system in great quantities at the time.

Did the pressure applied by Chauvin’s knee contribute to that death? Possibly, but that was far from proven beyond a reasonable doubt, which used to be the required threshold for a guilty conviction in the American court system. The threshold today appears to be whatever gangs of violent rioters and looters on the streets of our nation’s Democrat-run cities demand that it be.

America used to boast of being a nation of laws and not of men. Today’s America has devolved into a nation governed by emotions and mobs. If the last five years have proved nothing else, they have definitely demonstrated beyond all reasonable doubt that our country’s system of justice has been well and truly destroyed by the radical left, with the willing complicity of a corrupt, Nazi-style media establishment. The Chauvin decision itself is not a death knell for our country, but the process that led to it surely is.

That is all.

The verdict was set up to be overturned. In a just administration of legal jurisprudence, this was a mistrial, subject to emotion, and not fact. George Floyd was a dead man walking when first encountered by the police officers, and judging by his overall physical condition, he probably would have been dead within a week even if his confrontation with the police had NOT happened.

Which is why Derek Chauvin administered a form of euthanasia, not murder.

I don’t know, but this is, quite possibly, not even remotely close to being the last one.

Have you ever looked at the BLM mobs? They’re about 99% spoiled leftist 20-somethings crackers. The dark ones come out after dark to get the free sh1t. That’s all they want. With the exception of the multi-millionaire athletes in the NBA and NFL. MLB kneelers are just cucks.

Who is next? Let’s go after WHITE doctors. They put on a mask, and under surgery, clip an artery, and the patient dies..on the operating table. Now let’s prove that the doctor said something racist on a FB post, and that he took the life of an innocent person. HOW MANY PEOPLE DIE EACH YEAR BECAUSE OF MISTAKES OF THE SURGEONS? And could people WE ASKED, and we paid to bear arms to protect us ever make a mistake? WE’RE GONERS.

Millennials seeking a reason for being, seeking meaning in their “true esteem”-less, “group project saved my grade”, get blue ribbons for participating and Godless lives.

“HOW MANY PEOPLE DIE EACH YEAR BECAUSE OF MISTAKES OF THE SURGEONS?”

About 7,000.

That’s true in some cities. But, I can promise in you that in places like ATL, the BLM throng is ‘genuine.’

I live in FL, which has done a good job of controlling these mobs. But, I was caught up in a ‘demonstration’ last year in FLL’s Los Olas entertainment district that teetered on turning violent and destructive and that crowd was virtually entirely black.

I agree entirely with your other point though: it’s all about getting free stuff. Those sneakers and TVs aren’t going to loot themselves.

I suspect Chauvin’s attorneys will be filing an appeal. Still, he will have a rough time in the interim.

I don’t think the Floyd family ever wanted JUSTICE, they wanted revenge. God says Vengance is MINE, I will repay, thus saith the Lord. I feel sorry for them. They could have taken another stand, and realized that their son was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, doing bad things. But they chose to get WHITEY.

The Chauvin decision itself is not a death knell for our country, but the process that led to it surely is.

The only thing that separates the United States from every other government ever formed is the citizens, voluntarily subjecting themselves to the laws of the Constitution.

John Adams said, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other".

We have long since crossed that bridge, and it is crumbling at it's core.

Too many people that believe there is no God and only they count.

No moral compass, no absolute right or wrong, then the USA is just another failure of man.

Bye, bye, Miss American pie, sold my chevy at ...

Uninformed just like the public. His knee was on Floyd's back most of the time. Problem is, all most people saw was a single frame still photo or 30 seconds of the 9 minute video(s). The State's own use-of-force expert even agreed that Chauvin did not use excessive force
