“Spending is the real problem,” said the world’s richest man when he dismantled the logic behind the Democratic Party’s latest class warfare tax-the-rich scheme.
Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter in response to a Washington Post story promoting the Democrat tax plan, which featured him as the cover photo. The Post said the proposal “would raise billions of dollars from a handful of the richest Americans, attempting to create perhaps the most narrowly focused tax policy in postwar history.” Post NASA and space industry reporter Christian Davenport seemingly celebrated how the “$50 billion” Musk would pay in addition to the “$44 billion” Post owner Jeff Bezos would pay in five years under the plan “could pay for a Mars mission.” Musk clapped back: “According to their own estimates, this tax only covers ~10% of the $3.5 trillion spending bill. Where will the other 90% come from? The answer is you.”

Spending is the problem? Gee, ya think.
I dont often agree with Billionaires, but when I do, it is about government spending.
He’s right, but he also got his money thanks to gov subsidy of his non-fossil fuel business.
Gee, maybe Elon will turn into the anti-Soros...
I know a few billionaires, they all say the same thing, and they always add that it really screws the little guy and the middle class the most.
Yeah spending is the problem including all the spending spent on government subsidies for his businesses which allowed him to rack up $250 billion. He really ought to learn to keep his mouth closed and just consider himself lucky nobody is calling him out on that spending.
All taxes on the rich have always ended up being paid by the working class, one way or the other...
Of course the 61% of americans (according to the IRS data) are freeloaders paying no taxes, but still being allowed to vote...
This must change, by whatever means necessary...
No taxes...No vote...No welfare...
I’d prefer the original Constitutional system, property and business owners get to vote...
And what was the value of that contract?
And the sum value of the EV tax credits over the last decade or so (currently 7500 per)?
Good guy and product, but he'd have gotten nowhere w/o the eco nazi boost.
p.s. I also see charging stations in some shopping center parking lots. Who pays for those? Ultimately, all shoppers that go there, that's who.

But did Lockheed or Boeing or Raytheon ever build one of these that you could buy?
Musk played the game, built something great. If you think we don't subsidize oil, then what are those infantry guys doing in the middle east?
Actually they don't, they get to deduct operational expenses and payroll taxes like every other business. The first oil guys paid for their own land and holes in the ground. It wasn't the gov saying "hey we want you to dig up this black greasy stuff so here's a wad of cash."
Now, gov does, in fascist style, work to give big payers competition-eliminating regulations, etc., and that's why so many corps are willing to embrace their commie policies, and that is a common beef I have.
It's also part of the beef I have w/the EV world funded by the eco nazis. To make things worse in that context, is the continual push in regulation that makes cars in general more and more unaffordable.
An average new car price in the 70s was about 10% of the average income. Now, you may as well get a mortgage on it (even before the most recent inflationary and shortage induced spikes).
The National Socialist Fascist Democrat Party could confiscate 100% of the wealth of the top 10 billionaires in this country and STILL not be able to pay for their $3.5 trillion dollars “stimulus” ...
I understand your position, but having spent most of a lifetime in the “defense” industry, I have to say that I saw many things that can only be described as a subsidy...or workfare, whatever...at least the taxpayer got some cool looking presentations outta the deal in most cases.
If there was hardware, it’s probably at D-M in the junkyard about now.
Musk will soon become, if he hasn’t already, a rabid conservative.
Remember when no one had ever heard of a 6 year car loan? Let alone 7? 70% of new car loans in the first quarter of 2020 were longer than 60 months. And the same is true of USED car loans!
“ and they always add that it really screws the little guy and the middle class the most.”
Of course it does. That’s the plan.

Your right, I was in a meeting where it was determined that we need 60 sets ( 80 pcs per set) of 10 different variations of hardware for a development program. The buyers were saying that it would fill up at least 10 of the subcontractors. I raised my hand and asked if I could borrow the whiteboard and ask the development group a few questions. Okay. I started asking about decision points in the development process. They came up with ten. I asked them to predict the most likely success variations and give me a percentage. That ended up with throwing out six of the variations. Then I asked them which order of testing would yield the data they needed and the likely hood of if you passed one test you would pass the others. We went from 600 sets of hardware to 24 sets. Our internal shop was able to handle 24 sets. Of course my days were numbered after I dropped the turd in the punch bowl of stupidity. Evidently there is a whole organization dedicated to outsourcing work, with coordination junkets, inspection and certification of vendors preparing and reviewing reports on status etc.. etc.. etc..
