Report: Maui Residents Burned To Death In Their Cars Because Of Barricades Blocking Escape

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that residents of Lahaina in Maui were prevented from escaped the horrific wildfire by barricades that were put up after electric polls were downed.

The report contains shocking details revealing that people were turned back by a crew as they attempted to flee, with several being burned alive in their cars or in the middle of the street as a result.

The report notes that some disobeyed the order and drove around the barricades, enabling them to escape and survive:

One family swerved around the barricade and was safe in a nearby town 48 minutes later, another drove their 4-wheel-drive car down a dirt road to escape. One man took an dirt road uphill, climbing above the fire and watching as Lahaina burned. He later picked his way through the flames, smoke and rubble to pull survivors to safety.

But dozens of others found themselves caught in a hellscape, their cars jammed together on a narrow road, surrounded by flames on three sides and the rocky ocean waves on the fourth. Some died in their cars, while others tried to run for safety.”

One survivor noted that if she had obeyed the order to turn around she and her children would have been cooked alive:

“The gridlock would have left us there when the firestorm came,” said Cuevas-Reyes, 38. “I would have had to tell my children to jump into the ocean as well and be boiled alive by the flames or we would have just died from smoke inhalation and roasted in the car.”

The scenes of burned cars are truly horrific:

This latest update comes after it was revealed that authorities failed to sound sirens and warn residents they were in grave danger.

Resident Nate Baird told the AP “We needed like 10 more minutes, and we could have saved a lot of kids,” adding “If we’d just had like a 10- or 15-minute warning.”

Meanwhile, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) agents are shacking up in 5-star luxury beachfront resorts in Maui amid the agency’s botched handling of the deadly wildfire disaster.

There are still approximately 1,110 people missing.

The Daily Mail reports that FBI investigators have compiled a list of names of those who haven’t been found and will be releasing it later this week.

Joe Biden’s response to the disaster, cracking jokes and making it about himself after ignoring it for two weeks, was just downright frightening:

This makes no sense. Why would they put these barricades up at all? It won’t stop the fire from spreading.

If the goal was to keep people from driving through the area where the grass fire was then this was not helpful in a quickly changing fire environment.

Yes, the lawsuits will be in the billions. Every single person responsible should be indicted for intentional depraved indifference and about 100 other charges.

Because bureaucrats are never held responsible for anything. There’s a saying “No single raindrop believes it is responsible for the flood”. THat’s bureaucracy in a nutshell. The best way to deal with this is starting with those that put the barricades up, to those that ordered it, charge them with however many counts of negligent homicide.

The power poles are typically made from Pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine. They tend to be top heavy because the transformers, cross arms and wires attached to them. So, when you get hurricane force winds they will break.

This is a major infrastructure flaw/issue for an island that is routinely subject to tropical storms and high winds. In other parts of the world countries that are typically in the line of these storms use steel reinforced concrete utility poles. Those poles will survive higher winds. They also cost more money.

The videos I’ve seen show burned out cars and houses mostly very close to the ocean. Why didn’t people leave their cars and walk one or two hundred yards to the ocean for protection?

These very real Maui refugees get $700 while fraudulent refugees crossing our order illegally get $2200 in cash , new free clothes and an airline ticket to the destination of their choice

Would have done them little good.

The winds were blowing in 60+mph gusts and the fires were like blowtorches, extending even out to the sea. Boats that were a hundred yards out caught fire. The air would have been unbreathable.....................

Hawaiian residents and their families suing in Hawaii is quite different from "outside of national borders" litigation.

in todays age, suing someone will only go as far as the judges/politicians/interested parties are paid/bribed to handle

If you are correct in this, we Americans no longer live in either a republic nor a democracy, as some allege.

The coup is complete, if your contention is accurate.

Many did get in the ocean. I have heard it spread so fast that people were overtaken before they knew what was happening.

“Perhaps surviving relatives will hunt down government officials and exact more personal consequences for these horrific deaths.”

in all honesty, the next “level” in the collapse of our society will be political paybacks and assassinations. And yes, corrupt government officials do have family members that will become easy targets. The political payback revenge has already started against all republicans/conservatives.

Whats going to stop some angry, pissed off guy who spent 6 years in the can for some stupid, trumped up tax-evasion charge, lost his wife, life and career and now has a terminal illness, from taking revenge on the daughter of IRS agent John Doe’s daughter who posts her daily doings all over FB and tik-tok.
I’m truly surprised this kind of stuff doesnt happen more often.

I know in the early 1900’s leading up to the Russian revolution, assassinations’ against officials were very common. Sadly this kind of behavior will probably start to happen in the US at some point as people start to have “nothing else to lose”

people may not own anything, and eat bugs, but they won’t be happy!
