When you own an EV, likely you will be stuck with it for life, unable to sell it when the battery is shot; your choice is to pay a huge fee tor battery disposal or pay thousands of dollars for a brand new battery.
The Technocrat Holy Grail of Smart Grid and control over energy will eventually go up in smoke.

I suspect it’ll be government to the rescue....some kind of buyback or more subsidies.
Happy trails!

Elon what say you? I never want to own an EV.
“… stuck with it for life, unable to get rid of it.”
Sounds a lot like a nasty STD.

Or worse, force people to buy them.
Somebody somewhere must have realized this would happen. This should have been evident some time ago. At least the country should be better off for it.
You won’t be forced to buy them. They’ll just ban the refining, distribution and sale of gasoline.

Elon has always said EVs are nitch product and don’t fit everyone’s needs.
You can say that again.
What a great scam.
The EV battery life is 10 to 15 years (advertised)
The EV companies stop making replacements after 7 years.
So the car is basically worthless once the battery dies.
The definition of planned obsolescence.
If this was common knowledge no one would buy one of these rolling fire bombs.
WHAT? EV’S ARE A SCAM? shocking!
I realized it three or four years ago as soon as I read the expected life of the battery, I think it was about the Chevy Volt.
I discussed it on several threads about the EV’s
The cost of the disposal of the battery was not an issue at the time. That seems fairly new. But I suppose that was really foreseeable considering what you pay for tire disposal today
Yeah, well I get 20 years out of my vehicles. No collision coverage. Don’t pay more than $3K purchase price.
The only thing that might save the EVs is new technology, like Toyota PEM.
Dealers are being forced to sell a product very few want and are loosing money on them. Forced to sell from the OEMs who are getting their marching orders from Govt..follow the money.
I’m still waiting for T********r to put his money where his mouth is and buy an EV.
In our experience there’s pluses and minuses with the Tesla.
DS 1 was taking a friend’s Tesla to them in another state but was given permission to drive it around this weekend while home for Christmas.
We went on a 300-mile round trip visit to see my folks, the 90-somethings.
Pluses ... great, quiet, smooth ride. The whole roof is a sunroof. Great sound system and lots of other options. Very comfortable for four adults including one over 6 foot and three over 200 pounds.
Minus ... we had to charge it 3 times and had to hunt for Tesla brand superchargers each time.
It might work toddling around town to work and back but a cross country trip was extra long due to charging.
