Let's not re-write history. Liberals never
hated Lieberman. Some took pot shots at him, but he always got a semi-pass because he was a Democrat, and because he ran against Bush/Cheney in 2000.
And to be fair, conservatives also took shots at Lieberman. I still remember this conservative meme from 2000:
