Fifty years ago tonight after a nine-month gestation I was decanted from my mother's womb. I very nearly didn't survive. When I came out I wasn't breathing or moving at all. It was twelve minutes before inhalation was finally induced. Some have wondered if I've been brain damaged because of that. I don't know. But here I am fifty years later, feeling better than when I turned thirty. God has brought me far, past a lot of dark times and pain. But I'm in a place where I'm truly thankful and looking forward to where the next fifty years take me.
Anyway, here's the essay I wrote for my blog today.
I've had my blog for twenty years now. Took a break for Lent, knowing that this Easter would be something wonderful to return during. All that would make this day completely perfect is for North Carolina State to win today :-)
On that note, Happy Easter. He is risen!

Ninety years ago I was born an Rh baby. My birth certificate reads “male child.” My name was added two weeks later when it was understood I would live. Hosannah! On this Christian day I say Hosannah!

I too wish I was 50 again. The day I was 52 I could jump off of a very tall Allis 190XT. It was December after Christmas and very cold. I had driven over to a neighbor’s to help him out. Little did I know that from that day on today, this very day, would be as good as it gets from here out. Suddenly you will understand that and forthrightly make the best of every day like never before.
Happy Birthday! We share the same. I am 18 years ahead of you today.
A great age to retire at...
At 90, it is getting harder & harder for me to remember when I was 50...
Not complaining though... The wife, I married in 1960, turned 85 this year, and sometimes, she has a hard time remembering what happened a few months ago...

I have spent half of my existence trying to hang on by my fingernails to a life that too many take for granted.
Only now am I getting that real crack at life. I just started an amazing new career and I'm on the way to finishing my first book.
God brings us through the darkness. Maybe not on our own time, but always perfectly in His.

Aging is just the nature of things.....it’s the way God designed us. The human body wasn’t made to last forever....that’s why we have SALVATION!

Happy birthday, and Happy Easter! I’ll be 70 a little later this year. We don’t get older, we get better. Maybe a little “tweak” here and there is in order once in a while, but it’s all good!👍🙂
