VIDEO: Extreme Eclipse Anxiety Due to Heavy Cloud Cover Forecast

Many astronomers have stated that our total eclipse of the sun by the moon is a unique event in the entire universe since the odds against it make it almost an impossibility. Yet here it is happening on the one place in the universe where we know there exists intelligent life that can appreciate such a miraculous event, CLOUDY weather is predicted for much of the path of totality in the United States. As a result we now have an outbreak of extreme Eclipse Anxiety as you can see in this video. The funniest reaction was from Al Roker who is in Dallas and when asked about the eclipse weather could only answer "interesting." Despite Al trying to maintain an upbeat attitude it was later belied when he reported hail, wind, and tornadoes for Texas. Yeah, "interesting" weather for Texas, Al, which means a very lousy chance of seeing the eclipse there.

My biggest hope is that there will be few clouds south of Indianapolis where my friend Pastor Charles Henrickson will be participating in an Eclipse viewing party with his church group. So, please clouds, at least spare the Indianapolis area from clouds for Eclipse Day. Oooh! Oooh! OOOOOOOH!!! And now I think I am experiencing extreme Eclipse anxiety!

God was surely smiling on us around here yesterday. Today we are full of cloud cover. It was hit or miss for this time of year. I think God wanted us to see that total eclipse. He showed me again how majestic this earth we live on is. Those were some spectacular 3 plus minutes.

On the traffic front, I got a text early evening from a cousin in Toledo. “I went for a 5 minute errand to the auto parts store to get a headlight, and I’ve been stuck in traffic for 30 minutes!”

I pointed out that everyone in the Detroit area that wanted to see the eclipse had to funnel thru Toledo to get to the totality path in Ohio, S. of Toledo.

“Oh. I guess you’re right.”

I had tried weeks ago to get her to saddle up and go get in the path, but she didn’t listen. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make her drink.

^^ This is a photo I took with my cellphone camera right at the peak of totality. We had a viewing party here at our church in Greenwood, Indiana. The weather was wonderful, and the viewing conditions were ideal. A church group from Louisville, Kentucky, came up and shared the experience with our people. The eclipse started at 1:50 and peaked at 3:07.

A Bible verse I shared with the folks is Psalm 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork." A hymn stanza I thought of is this one:

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed;
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee.
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When the sun was covered, not only was there silence, the temperature definitely dropped some degrees.

Haha, Illinois came to Indiana for the most part! Thankfully, that’s a rarity where I live, but I have a fiend who lives north of here, and she gets people from Chicago at her lake a lot.

I made sure I had any necessary provisions needed for the day before yesterday, so that I wouldn’t get stuck in any of the regular traffic to the suburbs where there’s more commerce than we have in my little town. No errands run yesterday. Your cousin missed out and was definitely close enough to drive someplace.

The temps did drop several degrees! When the sun began to shine again, it was amazing the difference in the brilliant light.

How Great Thou Art is one of my all time favorites, and it’s a very apt description of what we felt yesterday. My Dad had a great booming baritone voice and he would sing that hymn robustly at church when it was played. At home, too, when the mood struck him.

We really felt His Presence yesterday during the eclipse. How magnificent!
