FOX NEWS: THE WORST ELECTION COVERAGE I'VE EVER SEEN!

Posted on 11/03/2004 1:31:00 PM PST by pctech

I'm gonna put this out there and see what you folks thought about last night.

I for one am so mad at Fox News that I may never watch them again. The refused to call states that were going for Bush earlier in the evening, such as Florida, Ohio, New Mexico, and those that went later in the evening, such Iowa, New Mexico and Nevada.

I've heard all the hub bub about not wanting to appear partisan. But to me that's a load of hooey! There were numerous people on the threads last night who were downright pissed at Fox News for not having the backbone to call races when it was apparent who the winner was going to be.

What do you folks think?

I'll stick with Fox news. You don't like 'em, switch to Dan Rather. He seems more your style.

All the networks, without exception: the worst coverage ever.

Including, but not starting with, the 60 Minutes fiasco.
Including the offhand dismissal of the Swiftvets
Including the lawsuits to get ALL of Bush's military records, but none of Kerry's.
Including the phony Kerry interview by O'Reily
Including the Sandy Berger lapse of coverage
Including letting Ms Heinz get by without disclosing her tax returns
Including the exit polls.

My fingers are sore. Someone else take it forward.

I think you're spot on. Have the networks even called IA and NM yet??? Hellooo...McFly??

Give Fox (and NBC) credit, though, they called OH first and everyone else wouldn't budge until finally NBC had the stones to make the same call. But still, why the long delays calling FL? WTF, they really thought that K could really overcome a 350k vote deficit with less than 2% of precincts left??

"Fox was by far the best. Simple reporting for the most part.

The others were inane blather."

Until the battle of Ohio really really got going...

Blather was doing better than fox.

If you go back to the 12 thousand plus running election post then this will be evident.

Fox did not come back to the fold until they started to worry that they were going to have deal with us after all.

The exit polls were proving to be VERY un-reliable, many states were slow getting in raw numbers due to record turnout, and don't forget the 2000 fiasco where all the networks made TWO wrong calls on election night. It was nothing more than a very gun shy network making sure they had extreme confidence in calling any state for any candidate. It's really nothing to get that upset over.

"I agree that the fox coverage was terrible."

But it was the best available.

"Wonder if O'Reilley is still breathing heavily in hopes of an audience with Botox Boy."

Don't know, but I'll bet he'll be carrying hillery dillery dock's water up the hill for the next for years. He'll want to be 'player' early. No more of this 'last minute' begging for him. It's embarrassing -- having to interview the ghost of a living person.

Give me a break!!

You have no right what so ever to complain about Fox News. They covered the election nicely using the resources available.

You expect them to be what they are not, conservative suckups. they try mightily to provide both sides to an issue and do a pretty good job. As a matter of fact they do the best there is.

Quit whining or go live in a cave. There is never going to be any thing that will satisfy your personal need for self agreement.

Fox is not slick with more attention production perfection than their content. They do it on purpose to set themselves apart. They were given data and forced to use it simply because there was none other.

If you cease to watch them there will be no one damaged but your pouty little self.

Write them a thankyou letter.....Tell Brit he is the best, thank them for being there and then add you wish the projections from exit polls were better.

"Weren't they the first to call Ohio for Bush, thus giving him the election?"

By then they were getting lots of feedback by angry republicans. It was fairly obvious to all that Bush had Ohio at that point. Fox decided that they had better do some making up to us....for there own sake.

It seems like there major swing to the left really began when they were just sold to some liberal owner. Some of fox's reporters are good...Like Shepard Smith. We just need to send a mesage to Fox not to diss us or else.

Yes that reminds that Fox has Susan Estricth on last night. She was so durnk that she did not know what planet she was on. It was really pathetic.

I don't have cable and drove 200 miles to my Dad's to watch Fox on cable. They were obsessed with the bogus exit polling data and some mythical pending disaster for Bush in Virginia. I had to turn them off. Brokaw was an improvement, and I finished with breathless Dan, to hear a little of his colorful phrases. Every time I peeked back in at Fox they were still horrible. Gave up on them.

Having a pair is exactly what separated FNC from the rest of the lamestream media. They've lost their edge, have no polish and now look worse than those they had previously beaten into submission.

You know I am so tire of "Protected Icons".

The dems do the same with theirs.

We are no better than they are when we blindly protect our Icons even when they really screw up. If Fox wants our respect then they should have to earn it.
