ST PETERSBURG, Florida (AP) -- A woman and her roommate were charged with starving the woman's 9-year-old daughter, who weighed just 42 pounds when she was found, authorities said.
The child also was locked up all day and was forced to wear a filthy diaper, police said.
Melissa Samoraj, 27, and Raymond LaFountain, 31, were arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated child abuse.

On the bright side the girl can talk, and the abuse has stopped.Hopefully the girl was not beaten or raped. This story could have had a less pleasant ending.
The women ,particularly the masculine one, need to spend time in a loony bin under the care of a good psychologist/psychiatrist. Electro shock therapy would not be a bad thing for those two.

"Roommate"? Isn't it ironic that if the 9 yr old had won some award instead of being horrendously abused it would read "the woman and her wife/partner".
There is no punishment too harsh for those women.
God bless that poor little child. I will pray for her.

Oh, you are being way too kind with the Electro Shock after dark.
These two belong in hell or the earthly equivalent of a long,long time in prison. Their crimes are so disgusting that I don't even have the words.
Thanks be to God the little girl is still alive. I hope she perseveres and overcomes this horrible time in her life.

here.
One of them was a secretary in a doctor's office. The s/he was unemployed. The girl had been taken out of school under the pretext of being home schooled.

Hopefully the girl was not beaten or raped. This story could have had a less pleasant ending.I want to be optimistic and hope you are right, but I am very sorry, but I am afraid the worst has happened, and the only upside is that this poor girl is still alive.
These 2 sick animals should be shot, and their bodies mutilated for doing this to an innocent child.
