My sister in law had that problem as well. Apparently, there is a certain type of ant that eats something off a peony to make it bloom. When the exterminator at her townhome complex sprayed, they stopped blooming.

Not sure what type of ants, or why they need them, but it was a factor for hers......

At the root of all this activity is probably a complex of sunspots. The region is not yet visible from Earth, but the sun is turning it toward us for a better view. Readers with solar telescopes should keep an eye on sun's northeastern limb for an emergence on May 7th or 8th.
We shall see.

Think of it as ....rolling over in its sleep.

But will it fall quickly back into deep sleep or stay awake for awhile?

They are the same ants that herd the aphids onto rose bushes, small black ones.

That peony came with the house. I don’t know why but it bloomed well though heavily shaded. For a few years, that is. Then it stopped blooming so I replanted it. No blooms last year but it’s sprouting well this year.

I know nothing about this stuff so I’m just guessing at what might work.

The sun has finally heard that Obama was elected, and offers its reply.

get a book or do online research about them. They are a little unique in their needs to bloom. I know the ants are a factor.

Where do you live with this Peony? My grandmother who lived in Montgomery, Alabama, would put the ice from defrosting her refrigerator on the peony in the winter time to make it bloom every year.

My grandfather would grow a night blooming Cereus each year.

If the global warming idiots try to use this as an argument for their destructive plans to our economy, the counter would be that they told us it was all human activity that caused it.
It was the sun all along and all we humans can do is react to Mother Nature.

Peonies usually don’t bloom until the second or third year after being transplanted. The need to re-establish their root system before they’re able to bloom.
