And how did those conditions in the Pliocene occurr?

Natural causes.

I am reliably informed that life in the Pliocene was sweet.

“Arctic Could Face Warmer and Ice-Free Conditions”

Or, it could get colder. Or stay the same.

Where’s my government grant?

Great predictions based on 3 million years of speculation.
But for now, I think the arctic cold has moved to Missouri. And our ice is getting thicker.........

This will help refine climate models, which currently underestimate the rate of sea ice loss in the Arctic.

In other words, tweek the computations to turn up the globull warming BS.

90% of sea ice is located in the antarctic and is growing.

In general, the (arctic)ice edge is now at or slightly beyond its average location, with two notable exceptions: Hudson Bay and the Barents Sea.

Did anyone see that courageous middle school student on Fox & Friends this morning? She complained about how all the classes were required to study Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and not given an opposing view point to consider. She complained to the school board and F&F also wrote a letter and got a response that “they would look into it.”

She was asked who could provide a contrary viewpoint and she mentioned Rush, Hannity and Laura Ingraham. Though good for starters, the film “The Great Global Warming Swindle” is a better one for the class and newer followup information on Climategate is definitely recommended.

Three million years ago today as a matter of fact. I remember it well. I went on a scuba diving expedition to visit the North Pole. Santa’s work shop and home was covered in a giant dome of glass similar to the one covering Atlantis.

Uh Oh, I'm sounding as rational as Al Gore.......better go take my Meds.

These articles always have qualifying words in the headline: “could”, “may”, “might”, “there’s a chance...”. It’s all BS.

Arctic Could Face Warmer and Ice-Free Conditions (Pliocene projections - USGS)

And my Aunt could grow testicles and be my Uncle.
There's about as much chance of one as the other.

There is increased evidence that the Arctic could face seasonally ice-free conditions and much warmer temperatures in the future.

Let's count what I call "Weasel Words". Weasel Words are modifiers that give the writer cover when after a few years it becomes clear that he/she was DEAD WRONG. Here they are:

INCREASED. From what???? How about from zero up to 2%. That's a big jump.

COULD. Wow that's definitive isn't. How about COULDN'T. Just as likely.

MUCH WARMER. OK, I get it. They must mean 20 degrees C. Or do they mean 100 degrees C. Or do they mean .5 degrees C?

IN THE FUTURE. That really nails it down doesn't it? Maybe we are talking a few million years. Or a billion or two. Who knows? Who cares?

[[Global average surface temperatures during the mid-Pliocene were about 3°C (5.5°F) greater than today and within the range projected for the 21st century by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.]]

These friggin criminal morons can’t even keep their stories straight- First they claim we’re ‘hotter than evah before’, and that ‘man must act now to reverse the damage we’ve done’, but hten we get articles liek htis one that show that DESPITE the claim that we’re now ‘hotter than evah’, it was infact 5 freakin degrees hotter BEFORE the industrial age-

So, apparently, We’re not putting enough CO2 into the atmosphere because we’re STILL 5 freakin degrees cooler than it was before (and lo and behold- DESPITE the FACT that it was 5 freakin degrees hotter BEFORE the industrial age, the world survived just fine, species thrived, survived, and moved into new nitches, and the world and everythign in it went along just fine- but apaprently, because we’re a tenth of a degree warmer than we were in the 40’s, everyhtign is goign to die and hte world will burn to a crisp? These freakin ‘scientists’ haven’t got a freakin clue, and hsoudl be stripped of their degrees for criminal fraud after tryi9gn to defraud the world!)
