Non-mare silicic volcanism on the lunar farside at ComptonBelkovich
- Bradley L. Jolliff,Sandra A. Wiseman,Samuel J. Lawrence,Thanh N. Tran,Mark S. Robinson,Hiroyuki Sato,B. Ray Hawke,Frank Scholten,Jürgen Oberst,Harald Hiesinger, Carolyn H. van der Bogert,Benjamin T. Greenhagen,Timothy D. Glotch& David A. Paige Nature Geoscience (2011) doi:10.1038/ngeo1212
Abstract
Non-basaltic volcanism is rare on the Moon. The best known examples occur on the lunar nearside in the compositionally evolved Procellarum KREEP terrane. However, there is an isolated thorium-rich areathe ComptonBelkovich thorium anomalyon the lunar farside for which the origin is enigmatic.

Cool. Then, when it is time, we will have lots of Thorium for reactors on the moon. WTF would the EPA do with that???

I thought the moon was supposed to be dead. I heard it was also hollow too. How is this possible?

Forget about putting men on Mars...The moon has resources...

Too bad we’re no closer to landing there than when the landing was faked in a Hollywood studio 40 years ago.

Okay. So the moon has a boil on its’ backside. We can’t do anything about it except photograph it (we aren’t going back to the moon thanks to Obama, Holdren and Bolden).
We’ve got a bigger boil on the backside of American society, and its name is Barack Obama. Hope it gets lanced on Nov. 6, 2012. Now that is a problem that we can do something about.

It’s a refueling station for the mothership.

Could be. Depends on where the Moon is in its orbit when you're talking about the volcano.

Where else would all that green cheese be stored?

There is no dark side of the moon, really. As a matter of fact it’s all dark.

Would that be the Dark Side of the Moon? There is no permanent dark side of the Moon. Only a near side and a far side. The far side gets illuminated by the Sun during the New Moon phase (when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun once per Month).
