JACKSON LAKE, WYOMINGThe Milky Way abounds with low-mass planets, including small, rocky ones such as Earth. That's the main conclusion of a team of European astronomers, based on their latest haul of extrasolar planets. The new discoveries55 new planets, including 19 "super-Earths"were presented here today at the Extreme Solar Systems II conference by team leader Michel Mayor of the University of Geneva in Switzerland. "We find that 40% of all Sun-like stars are accompanied by at least one planet smaller than Saturn," he says. The number of Earth-like planets is expected to be even higher.

I was just reading about this over at space.com and it occurred to me that some of these “super earths” could easily be dual planet pairs.
After all, the earth luna system is essentially a dual planet pair orbiting a common center of gravity.
I think so too. Now if we had a ship that can go to one those planets I would be the first one aboard.
As long as they don't have any monsters from the id, I say let's go visit.

Thanks, Kevin! Been enjoying your pings!
No matter what I AM READY TO GO! SEND ME & I CAN START HOMESTEADING RIGHT AWAY!
Imagine what high tide would be like on some of those systems.
Freeze dry me and send me!
You could find 15 quadrillion planets the size of earth.. and not one could/would qualify as a good place for life..
Finding one would be miraculous..
This planet could be and probably is unique..
“I CAN START HOMESTEADING RIGHT AWAY!”
Sure thing... you can help the United Nations plant their blue flag on the planet, with a diverse group of politically-correct open-minded scientists who will no doubt want to organize the new planet under a globally-aware, ecologically sound sustainable society.
You will be the only conservative worker among them.
Enjoy your labor.
Only if it was Planet Galt.
Statistics say you are mistaken.
To hades with every one supports the un! I just want a planet of my own, to do as I see fit to do, as GOD shows me to do.
