Cool Video of the World's Tiniest V-12 Engine Being Made by Hand

This is a video of the world's tiniest V-12 engine being made by hand-built craftsmanship. Now the video does not say this, but I'm guessing the motor works off compression ignition like a diesel. Which would be similar to the way an R/C car that runs on gas. This would explain why their is no lubricant added to the engine. The lubricant is in the fuel. It has 12 cm^3 of displacement, the cylinder bore is 11.3 mm and stroke of the pistons is 10 mm. Works with just 0.1 Kg/cm^2. It is constructed of stainless steel, aluminum and bronze. The creator is Patelo who dedicated the engine to his 4 oldest grandchildren: Sara, Carmen, Jose and Paul.

The V-12 engine has been in existence for decades. The reason you're probably unaware of this fact is because they're being used by little know automakers such as Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, BMW, Jaguar, Ferrari, Bugatti and the Toyota Century

I knew they were around for awhile, but my comment about bragging rights was about the miniature one made in the film. I was not commenting that V-12a in general were useless.

Did bought it made, like a car off the showroom floor.

While he made his from scratch in his own garage. This guy made everything from scratch metal. He did not have anything made by anyone else.

That my friend is a big deal.

but my comment about bragging rights was about the miniature one made in the film.

Then you obviously missed the entire point of the video which was the fact that this man virtually hand crafted every single part of that functioning V-12 engine . There was no intent to imply these engines are efficient or in mass production or anything of that nature but yet you made it an issue. Why?

I would say other than bragging rights by the man who did it, it’s pretty useless.

No kidding Sherlock, a scale model of an actual automotive engine certainly isn't going to have any practical uses...............Just accept it for what it is.

I just moved and bought all new furniture, a few pieces which required assembly.

I am sadly the sort of person who looks at an open box with 4 large parts, 3 screws and 2 bolts (and 2 illustrated pages of instructions in bad English) and says “I’ll never get this put together.”

Kinda the polar, stellar, and universal opposite of this guy ;)

I collect miniatures, and I would just love to have that engine. A car around it would make it just perfect.

Thanks so much for sharing that cool video. It's amazing.

I agree with you. We are indomitable and we will win.

"We" is the American people. I was responding to OneVike's comments that had to
do with the spirit of the craftsman in general, and not his nationality:Thanks for keeping me on my toes, bert.

However, as far as the advantage an engine like this offers. I would say other than bragging rights by the man who did it, it’s pretty useless. Still way cool, but useless just the same. The engine is way too small, and even if it were not, the cost of mass producing it would be incredibly way too expensive to be cost effective. As you see, it was hand made, so it took incredible patience. He put 1220 hours of labor into it.

Don't you think the master machinist who put 1220 of labor into this knows it is probably not functionally advantageous? Do you actually believe that there was any aspect of his effort that didn't know that? Then why do you need to point out the obvious? Perhaps to misdirect and slander?

It's art. And YOU are the loss because you do not see the value of art.

How many fish could you wrap if you ripped out all of the paintings in the Louvre to make them "advantageous"? Didn't you calculate it yet? Why not?

How many machine parts could be made by melting down all of the bronze statues? How many corporate offices could be filled with workers by getting rid of art schools?

Figure it out - and push for rational change. Otherwise, there is simply no advantage in any of it.

Cuba has the oppression but not the benefits of this obastard tyranny. So long as obastard and his ilk don’t run out of our money to give to the swine that support him the oppression of the working class will continue until we respond is a violent clash and some winner emerges.

The only people who will run from the S... Hole the United States has become are the people who deserve to stay and be liberated from theft by the taking entitlement class aided and given succor by the ruling class of thug thief and crook politicians. That group seems to include just about all politicians.

Where do you run to? Reagan said this is the last hope of the world. Well, that hope is fading fast.
