Teams of up to 70 people are working on the digs at the Lozoya River Valley.

"Neanderthal Valley" is redundant, in the sense that the German word
Neanderthal means "Neander Valley."
But then again, I refer to New Mexico as Nueva Nueva España.

“They wandered in the fields”....sounds like the first baseball team I coached. The Shortstop would come up and talk to the pitcher. The First Baseman was chasing butterflies. The Second and Third Basemen were building sand castles.

(I'm being serious here)
Cave dwelling is a long tradition in Spain. In the city of Granada, and perhaps a few others, there are still people living, by choice, in caves that contain the amenities of modern life.
It is even a 'tourist' attraction in some areas.
I do doubt these people are 'Neanderthalian' in their lineage.
(yes, I just made that word up)

The Lozoya River Valley, in the Madrid mountain range of Guadarrama, could easily be called "Neanderthal Valley,"

"The Lozoya River Valley, in the Madrid mountain range of Guadarrama, could easily be called "Neanderthal Valley,..."Thal (pronounced tal - silent h) means valley. So, he's saying it's should be called Neander valley valley.
