U remember one in partcular that I HEARD rather than felt.

I wish I could remember the date to determine how deep it was and how far distant form my location.

I was next door to a small fire station...in a retail store buying software when I heard something that sounded like a fire struck hitting the wall of the store.

checking next door at the fire station proved that observation faulty and found several other people outside trying to determine what had just happened..

the oldest buildng Ive been IN during an earthquake was north of san francisco...and built in the 1800’s so it had gone through both the 1906 quake and loma prieta unscatched

My folks lived across the street from the Area 2 base in Yokohama. The Sannotani streetcar came by in the street in front of our house a couple times each hour.
The streetcar “turnaround” track was a half block south. A streetcar in the middle of this procedure was knocked clear off the tracks when a big roller shook through. I was out front and saw the ground ripple and the streetcar bounce in a shower of sparks.
A very large tow truck lived the streetcar back on track.
