Star Wars sucks. There, we said it.

Here’s his Attack of the clones review

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfBhi6qqFLA

Like I said, I enjoy his reviews more than the movies. :)

Those three he did are just about unwatchable, I cannot bear to look at them again and avoid them like the plague when they come on.

Amen.

"He says it was one of the films, along with  Jaws, that 'led to the introduction of the blockbuster model and the weakening of the auteur model,'"

The "My Dinner with Andre" action figures sucked.

Sci-fi book readership before and after Star Wars would be an interesting factoid to know. I think after Star Wars more folks started to first think of movies/TV when they hear the term ‘sci-fi.’ For me it will always be ‘books.’ But when I hear the term ‘western’ I first think of movies/TV.

It’s more of Lindelhofs fault than anyones.

JJ abrams and his crew have come onto the scene to destroy movies, and TV.

Actually the story is that in that scene originally Ford was supposed to fight that guy but Ford was recovering from the Flu or a Bad Cold and was took weak to film the scene as written. So they cut the fight scene and had him shoot him instead.

“CAN’T WE JUST HAVE FUN!!!”

Agreed! I guess I was the perfect age to see this when it first came out, and I’m no Star Wars or Sci Fi fanatic but seeing this for the first time in the movies was one of my greatest movie experiences.

It was just DIFFERENT and exciting and yes, gosh darn it, FUN.

Another one that was great, great fun was Austin Powers . I’m still so glad hubby and I took the kid to see that in the movies when it first came out. The opening sequence is brilliant and brings you right back to the high fashion 60s, which had pretty much been driven from my mind by the dirty hippies who came soon after. The whole movie is a hoot.

And of course, Blazing Saddles where my friend and I literally rolled in the aisles laughing.

Lucas’ movies started to suck in direct proportion to how afraid his collaborators were to say “No” to him.

Same thing happened to Peter Jackson, sadly. I’m glad he got the LOTR trilogy completed before his descent into Lucas-levels of arrogance.

I semi-appreciated the initial 1977 film in how it was a bit of an homage to the old Flash Gordon movie serials. The second film I recall being okay as well. But by the third, the whole thing became increasingly manic and grating. I’ve never even bothered to see the follow-up trio of films from a few years back.

What I had read is that Ford did it spontaneously on a lark, and they liked it, so they decided to keep it. They thought it was better than what they had written in the original script.

It was.

I thought the "Hobbit" movies(s) were Terrible. I think he's there.

You didn't miss anything. Wait! I take that back. You missed seeing three horrible movies.

Yeah. The Hobbit movies were unwatchable, even in super 3D and IMAX for the simple thrills and special effects. How he took a wonderful story and bloated it into 3 tedious movies is a textbook case of Arrogance Fail.

“I wonder if anti-Catholics just tend to not enjoy things as much as people who don’t suffer from the mental illness of anti-Catholicism?”

That line is stupid enough for a George Lucas movie!

I’m not anti-Catholic, but I do despise the current communist Pope. I don’t think the Force is with that one.

I still love Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, though, especially the first movie. The extended version of Fellowship was like seeing my imagination come to life. What a delight.

“a film with comic-book characters, an unbelievable story, no political or social commentary, lousy acting, preposterous dialogue, and a ridiculously simplistic morality. In other words, a bad movie.”

Perhaps for the 50th anniversary re-re-release they can figure out how to queer up C3PO a bit more effectively.

Yikes, the angriest, nastiest man on FR, is raging against Star Wars opinions now.

And that is exactly right. They wanted to milk the book for more money, and they utterly ruined it.

When a guy who thinks “Bloody Mary” was just doing her job as a monarch is calling someone else “anti-something”, it is getting bad. But yes, I’m anti-Star Wars. I thought the first movie was anti-technology drek, and it went downhill. Hopefully “Bloody Princess Leia” won’t have me burned at the stake as a heretic!
