A friend challenged me the other day to write something nice about Donald Trump. Easy to do, actually.
Donald Trump understands social media better than any other presidential candidate. He uses it more effectively than any other presidential candidate.
Why? His id matches the id of the fora he chooses. There are two of them, actually: He uses Twitter and online videos. He ignores everything else, because he has no organic reason to be there. He is authentic. He tweets as he thinks, which is precisely the way that Twitter is supposed to work.

Trump probably is the best at that - at least the last couple weeks.
But be not deceived about this particular author, and what his agenda is.
Care to explain please?
Don’t actually know the author, just thought the idea seemed newsworthy.
Yes, I know the author - at least I know his politics - he’s rather well known liberal from The Atlantic. I also study and write about the psy ops of the liberal media in covering GOP primaries, etc.
You should get out more (mentally speaking). You miss a ton of stuff. Maybe it’s why you think Trump is the only one talking about the border, etc, when most of the field has been talking about it longer than he has.
“The Donald” is a real person. Fabulously wealthy but real and not a Washington go along to get along wuss. We could do a lot worse. We have done a lot worse. God Save the Republic!
He is certainly better at saying what many ordinary people have on their minds, at least those outside DC and the urban culture.
You’re right.
Sorry about this post, people.
oh, and for the record, please note my initial point was in agreement with his premise. He’s saying this as someone who probably thinks that a Trump nomination would mean automatic Democrat win, which is what he would probably very much like.
Dont be sorry about the post.....interesting point - the motivation of the author notwithstanding.
“when most of the field has been talking about it longer than he has.”
They talk about the border then talk about giving amnesty.
wow, you have a very selective “filter”.........
Prove me wrong, don’t just talk smack.
You seem to think (correct me if I’m wrong) that Trump is somehow stronger on the issue of amnesty than anyone else. That’s absurd, including his statements yesterday - which by the way included some common sense that I was happy to see.
If that’s your point, it’s ridiculous and can only be obtained by a selective filter. If that’s not your point.....then what is it?
Where did Trump enter this discussion?
I’m not sure that’s wrong, and I’m not sure the poster is wrong.
Trump is the only one, saying we need a real border, and we need to expel people who are in America playing our system.
He’s not 100% on that (he wants those with jobs to stay here and pursue citizenship) but he’s the only one in the entire race, saying we need to build up the border.
The only one.
Ted Cruz is making some noise about this, I will give him credit, but nobody else.
Trump uses social media in the same way millions ot teen-age girls use it so I guess it’s true.
His comments yesterday, maybe day before, were about the differences between the illegals here to mooch off the system versus those carrying their own weight (here to work).
There was a clear reticence to do any kind of mass deport of those here to work in his remarks. Setting that aside, what I liked was the idea that there are two very different groups of illegals, and they should be discussed in that perspective. Regardless of where you are on immigration, that is clearly valid.
That's so stupid and absurd and so 180 degrees off of reality that you should be deeply embarrassed to say that. What kind of teeny tiny bubble do you live in????? I mean, you have again reached a level of ignorance that angers me. I loathe willful abject ignorance, and you just bathed in it.....yet again.
Trump is the only one, saying we need a real border.
(I just repeated it, out of general principle)
Trump is.
Don’t agree with that, please describe who else is for sealing our border?
Ted Cruz? He’s the one who comes closest. But Trump thusfar seems to be the only one saying America needs to build a real border fence/wall for the entire border.
Trump is saying that.
