I've seen quite a few comments from people in SoCal and even AZ commenting on a bright flash, green, some also seeing a yellow tail. Any FReeper witnesses?
How bright was it?
You got me, I’m on the east coast. Here’s a few Tweets:

Dam it i missed it
You know whats scary we a p3 orion is out chasing a nork sub of the coast
I did just now. I was down at the barn. South, maybe 30 degrees. Pretty bright, but did it pop and then go brighter or was that just the tree in the way?
Pop meaning it broke apart or pop meaning a sound?
broke apart, like a burst but that didn’t change it’s trajectory much, just seemed to get a bit larger. I didn’t hear anything audible
Bright green with yellow tail... nice rare-earths on board.
Dashcam video now posted on the Twitter search thread, pretty big one, green with a yellow tail.
So it calved.
There’s a video of it on the Twitter link I posted now. I see what you mean, it brightened considerably before it appeared to burn out.
Do you suppose there will be a mad dash to find the thing? Looked large enough to make it to ground, to me at least. I understand that most all of them are fairly valuable to researchers.
Sure it wasn’t one of those North Korean missiles?
I doubt it would have been green.
No! But I saw one just like it about an hour ago.
That probably camouflage :)
NASA will see the splash-down first and send their buddys’ salvage outfits to snatch it :)
So this was a pure East -> West trajectory...
Are we quibbling over the meaning of “few minutes” or do you think there was more than one, lol?
