My grand daughter worked at a well known fast food place, not McDonalds, by the way. She called the French fries “French flies” coz’ they were always fishing dead flies out of the fryer. However, after the critters are frittered I suppose they can’t do much harm.

There’s nothing to eat at McDonald’s.

Hat's off to Squantos (Comment #4) and Snickering Hound (Comment #5) for the two best back-to-back laugh lines I've seen during my 14 years at Free Republic.

And not one illness due to fries or big macs. Not trying to say salads are the real problem but ...

He was being sarcastic. :)

Vegans are really hurting their health.

I ask them why we have canine teeth, if not to eat meat. That was the way we were designed/evolved. I get blank stares in response

That’s it, I’m sticking to the fries. They’re sterilized in hot oil.

LOL! Exactly! That and the fried McNuggets. No bacteria can survive the deep fat fryer. The deep fat fryer is for your own health!

I’ve asked this question for years. Who in their right mind thinks of McDonalds as a healthy place to eat?

Seriously, if I want a hamburger, I could see it, but if I want healthy eating, McDonalds is NOT where I would choose to eat.

Muchelle strikes again.

Perhaps they should look at not only their suppliers, but how each store employees load the trays?

Cyclospora cayetanensis is a protozoan that causes disease in humans, and perhaps primates. It has been linked in the United States to fecally contaminated imported produce, and was virtually unknown before about 1990, but has been on the rise since.

Uncooked produce is risky wherever you get it. Wash your veggies in 1:3 vinegar or peroxide. Rinse well. I never eat fresh produce outside my home. Not even the little piece of lettuce on a burger. And I even wash what comes from my garden.

On youtube there is a video by a vegetarian doc titled “40 year Vegan dies of a Heart Attack! Why?”

He’s got some great nutritional information in there. He doesn’t advocate leaving the Vegetarian lifestyle, but he does explain why vegetarians are at greater risk than meat eaters and what to do about it.

McDonald’s has regional suppliers, hence their pulling salads in a specific region. This sounds like the manufacture/supplier of the salad ingredients has a sanitation issue or the farm itself where the produce was grown and initially prepared. The proof that this is not an individual restaurant level issue is by how wide spread it is.
