"Macy’s tried to include all - mother father kids - white, gay male family, black family, interacial family, etc. They’re getting heat from libs because of a black single mother."

Corporations are falling all over themselves to make TV ads "diverse," but the harder they try, the more likely it is that someone will damn them for the one base they failed to cover. Blacks are way overrepresented in ads - the blatant pandering is embarrassing - and they are all represented as living in upscale neighborhoods and driving upscale cars. Asians and Hispanics may be getting pissed off about this.

Asians don’t care. They just basically succeed and vote dem.

Hispanics will care. Can’t wait to the fall out from that.

ITA with your post. Seeing it now online and in daily life.

It will be fun when they all go after each other. If we’re still here after they’re done going after us.

It was many years ago now, 20 easily, but I recall a study showing blacks responded positively to ads showing them while other groups responded equally to ads whether their ethnic group was represented or not.

Enter identity politics. Truth is, I never see myself in ads.

One reason I ignore ads is how they are endlessly scripted to make men look like buffoons and women are always the clever one in the relationship. That’s done because women do most of the spending traditionally but I do wonder if we’ll ever see a backlash.

“Blacks are ...represented as living in upscale neighborhoods and driving upscale cars.”

True. Ads regularly show minority families with upper class clothes, cars and houses as if that is normal. Then I read statistics and conclude that advertisements on tv do not represent reality.
