DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines Police are investigating after a crowd of roughly 20 juveniles allegedly attacked a couple after they left a hockey game Saturday night.
The victims, a Des Moines man and his girlfriend, told police they were walking home through the skywalk – an elevated passageway connecting buildings downtown – following an Iowa Wild game at Wells Fargo Arena when they came upon a large group of juveniles near the downtown YMCA.
“They saw a bunch of juveniles gathered in a location and something about what they were doing didn’t seem right and she simply asked them 'hey, are you guys OK,' and for whatever reason that aggravated the group and they ultimately started to attack those two,” Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek said.
According to a police report, a witness said there was a group of about 20 juveniles that brutally attacked the man, repeatedly kicking and punching him. The woman also had minor injuries.

The article indicates this is a persistent problem in the location yet private security has been cut back. This begs the question of local taxpayer supported public law enforcement. Have the local politicians and bureaucrats decided to look the other way while teens attack people attending events downtown?

Funny, isn’t it, that the witness was quoted in the video as stating in the police report that the group was “about 20 black and hispanic teenagers” but the article replaced those words with “juveniles”.
But to respond would be "racism."

Per other reporting, there have been attacks on the private security personnel, what there is of it, as well.
Give me a break media, you aren’t fooling anyone anymore, in fact it is getting quite annoying.
Force disparity is a valid scenario for the use of deadly force.
If I were able to speak to the “journalists” and editors at this newspaper I would love to ask them this question:
“If it was a black or Hispanic couple leaving the hockey game who were attacked by a large group of white “juveniles”, would you have mentioned the race of the perpetrators of the crime?”
Is there any doubt?
Back in the day, they were youths.
