In the wake of Terminator: Dark Fate’s failure at the B.O., and Paramount’s recent decision to make Beverly Cops 4 for Netflix, we have the further breakdown of cinema IP in Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot, which is tanking with a God-awful $8.2M opening, 3 Stars on Screen Engine-Comscore’s PostTrak, and a B+ Cinemascore.
The Elizabeth Banks-directed-written and produced pic is also opening in 27 offshore markets, China being one where it’s also bombing, with a $6M two-day take in second place behind local title Somewhere Winter ($8.8M). All of this is primed to further spur a WTF reaction and anxiety among film development executives in town in regards to what the hell exactly works in this have-and-have-not era of the theatrical marketplace. Many will make the hasty generalization that old, dusty IP doesn’t work, or is now deemed too risky when it’s not a superhero project. However, moviemaking is an art, not a science, and annoying as it might sound, good movies float to the top, and this Charlie’s Angels reboot didn’t have the goods going back to its script.

The last original idea left H-wood’s clueless upper class a good while ago.
Terminator was very good but failed at BO when they had 3 women in the lead and Arnold doesn’t show up til half way through and he has shacked up with a Mexican woman and her son.
The female director said it is her goal to use movies to normalize abortion.
Never forget, the director is the Hollywood scumbag who spoke against Trump at the DNC convention. Congrats on her failure as a director.

Re Charlie’s Angels, the movie going consumers are too young to know it. Banks ought not have banked on a built in base audience of any significance.

Elizabeth Banks is a big time Trump hater and supporter of Hillary Clinton so there ya go
She had a supporting role in The Hunger Games movies, but isn’t really a box office draw.

Read the Breitbart article about this movie. The very first lines in the movie are male bashing and it continues all the way through the movie.

At the end of the movie it turns out “Charlie” is really a woman all along using a male voice.
LOL! Saw some previews for it the other day and it went into the ‘WILL NOT SEE’ binder instantly.
Embarrassing if they had any self worth. We know they don’t...
Hollywood can’t put out anything original because they have lost the ability for creativity.......all these reruns and reboots have terrible new actors as well. No talent as they all look and sound like they’re acting rather than assuming the character they’re playing.
I see problem right there...
