At age 60, she wasn’t entirely sure where Bali was. By age 62, she was living there.
Sherry Bronson, now 69, spent much of her life in Minnesota, where she raised three daughters and worked in real estate. But she didn’t love it: “I have hated the weather in Minnesota since I was a child,” she says. So in 2010, when her oldest daughter, who was teaching in South Korea, asked her to come to Bali so they could celebrate Sherry’s 60th birthday together, Sherry — after, she recalls with a laugh, Googling “Where’s Bali?” — jumped at the chance.
It didn’t disappoint: “The first thing that struck me as I got off the plane was the air — it was chewable, humid and warm with a scent of incense,” she says. “It was sweet and spicy and magical.” The next morning, she awoke to roosters crowing and the swooshing sound of a woman sweeping flower petals that had fallen in the night.

Married and divorced five times. I wonder what that’s all about.
She made her Money in America so she could afford to live in Bali.
Without living in America first, she would be living in a Tent on a Bali Beach if the Government let her live there without showing up with a bunch of Money.
Anyway, good for her. Her hard work paid off.
I wonder, is she collecting her Social Security yet?

Healthcare in Bali ?
She became too indoctrinated by the media. Her views reflected not reality across the U.S. but what the media wanted her to think. She was uninformed from what she read, not from what was open for her to experience, through unprejudiced eyes.
I meant the North Stars as a joke, as I am certainly aware of the Wild as well. Then there was also the World Hockey Association’s Fighting Saints (based in St Paul, IIRC) with the clear plexiglass boards in their home rink.

Could be. Having been divorced five times, she is no stranger to various men. She may well just want some comforting from a man sometimes, without the messy entanglements of marriage .
I wonder what her story is about the divorces. No doubt, she would tell us everything was the fault of the men in her life. I’m sure she would say the marriages all failed due to the shortcomings of the men. She I’m sure is blameless is her own mind, to have failed at marriage five times.
I noticed that too. Sounds a bit gullible and a bad husband or two may explain why she needed to retire on $3K a month after working in real estate. Still, she comes across well in this interesting article.
Can we encourage Californians to do this instead of infecting other states as they leave?
The rest of Indonesia is the largest mooslime nation on earth. How much of that seeps into Bali? Also, I wonder how good she’ll feel about her move after the next 8.5mag quake or major volcanic eruption; talk about the air being “chewable”, it’ll be downright crunchy.
I actually read the Article. She looks great for being 69.
Too many disadvantages being an Expat there IMHO, especially if Health is an issue.
Sounds like she found what she was searching for in Life.

After 5 divorces, thank God and Greyhound she’s gone.
It doesn’t work for everyone, if it’s important for you to be close to grandkids for example. But for some it’s an answer. Why spend your last quarter of your life freezing in Minnesota when you can live in Bali for half the cost.
Even though Indonesia is the world’s largest muslim country, Bali is mostly Hindu...for now. Good luck, lady.
She left the U.S. under the Obama administration.
