The number of Americans drinking themselves to death has more than doubled (non-Hispanic white women hardest hit)

Researchers from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism analyzed the death certificates of Americans ages 16 and up between 1999 and 2017. And while 35,914 deaths were alcohol-related in 1999, that number doubled to reach 72,558 in 2017. The death rate spiked 50.9% from 16.9 to 25.5 per 100,000.

In other words, alcohol was a factor in nearly 1 million deaths during that time period, with about half of these deaths resulting from liver disease, or a fatal overdose from alcohol or alcohol mixed with other drugs. In 2017 alone, 2.6% of roughly 2.8 million deaths in the United States involved alcohol.

What’s more, the CDC warned in a separate report on Thursday that binge drinkers (defined as four drinks during one occasion for women, and five drinks for men) are consuming more alcohol than they were before. The number of drinks they’ve knocked back spiked from 472 on average in 2011 to 529 in 2017, or a 12% increase.

And the number of binge drinks per adult who reported binge-drinking increased “significantly” in nine states, the report added, including Idaho, Indiana, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, and Virginia. But it decreased significantly in Massachusetts and West Virginia, and did not change significantly in the other 30 states or D.C.

..." alcohol mixed with other drugs...

That little detail in the story could make quite a difference.

Just like smoking....if you had one cigarette in your life 50 years ago and you eventually die from fallen arches, they will say “ smoking was a factor.”

A counselor once told me that you and I have many problems. How to pay the mortgage, a difficult boss, kids need new clothes, the car needs new tires, the in-laws are a problem, taxes are coming due, and 1000 more problems.

A drug addict only has one problem: how to score his next fix.

Another one of the many reasons lots of American guys choose partners from other countrys.

Lots of US women: fat, drunk, obnoxious and just waiting to take everyting you have.

Drinking to excess and drugging (other than legitimate pain meds by prescription) are CHOICES. Women are now making as many stupid choices as men used to.

SamAdams76 takes the grand prize for his comment that “I woke up November 9, 2016 feeling like I had gone to bed with terminal cancer and was now cancer-free.”

My next check-up is this November. I'm feeling healthy and optimistic.

“Indeed, a recent Columbia University study found that the greatest increases in binge drinking were reported among women ages 30 to 44 without children”

I wonder how much these women, many of whom are the type to think Trump=Orange Man Bad, have been drinking since January 2017.

I might just have to go to a bar downtown on the day that Trump is acquitted in the Senate to see what I can observe. Maybe I can come up with a funny vanity post.

“How many men drink because of women? “

I have a hunch that women (not all!) are finding out that *Equality* isn’t all they thought it would be and are extremely frustrated.

It’s like the King Midas touch: Feminist will eventually destroy themselves and taking loved ones as well as enemies with them.

The fruits of the death cult of feminism.

Meanwhile, the federal government will want millions to reverse this sad trend; never mind the federal government is one of the sources of spreading feminism. So the federal government creates/facilitates problems, then wants more money to solve the problems they created, while federal workers are overpaid, look down on others, and have the nerve to boo the President at the World Series.

The classic swamp cycle of crap and decay with a wake of destruction.
