The National Health Commission announced February 7 that total infections in China spiked to 31,161 with new infections as of Friday reaching 3,143. Of that, 636 died with new death count at 73 and 4,800 were in dire condition.

Has it spread to many parts of China or is it at least contained?
I know in China containment can still mean 100 million people are in trouble.
They are grossly under-reporting the death count and infected count.
We all know the Chinese gov’t lies.
There are 6 cases now in my state (WI) from Chinese who went home to China for their new year, and brought the disease to Madison.
Not to worry though, the media says the hospitals sent all of them home to “self-quarantine”!
They will of course go to grocery stores and touch/cough on food and infect everyone.

I’ve seen in news feeds over the past couple of weeks, that many manufacturing plants have been suspended around the country. They’re planning to get those running again, of course, as soon as possible. If you need anything made in China, it might be best to order before prices increase much. Some kinds of products are all made there regardless of brand name.

It’s spread far from the first city.
10s of millions of people are already in danger.
Maybe close to 100 million in all those areas combined.
No way the death toll number is accurate.
And even though they make 80 percent of our antibiotics, making them and having the infrastructure to get them everywhere they are needed in their own country are two different things.
Everywhere that the virus is, medical supplies are very, very low.

This is so sad.
Reminds me of the families, in London during Black Plague, that were boarded into their homes, once just ONE member showed signs of the disease....and, all were left to die. A red cross was painted on the outside of the door.
What else can China do, though? Prayers many will be able to survive and thrive.

They have a shelf life of 10 years, I was told.
I hope we are smart enough (there’s a big if) to have bought huge amounts just in case...something like this happens

That’s correct. There was much discussion about intellectual property during the trade deal negotiations, though, and China is dropping some tariffs. Chinese publications have also recently been posting copyright notices. Under the circumstances, I decided to keep the post low key.
And don’t worry about them cracking readers’ computers. They like having readers from the West and tend to think much bigger when up to monkey business. Their recent approaches are far more subtle than website methods. I have a signal meter in front of me, and it’s still flatlined (no scans).

I had to look it up because I did not believe it!
It seems we do have a Strategic National Stockpile with two buildings the size of Super Walmarts and we supposedly have enough for a VERY DIRE emergency situation.

Someone must have briefed him in all that by this point, I would hope.
