It could take more than a year before a vaccine for the new coronavirus is available, and even that may be a wildly optimistic timeline, since the average vaccine development process takes 10.7 years. (On the other end of the spectrum, University of Oxford researchers say that they could have a million doses of their experimental vaccine ready by this September, and Chinese researchers have predicted the same for another vaccine.) But before a vaccine is ready, its possible that antibody treatments could become more widely used.
Traditional vaccines work by weakening a virus so that it cant get you sick, but it still teaches your body to make antibodies to fight the virus in advance of an infection. Antibody treatments, instead, are made from antibodies from patients who have recovered, which are then injected in someone else to either help protect them from the virus or help them recover faster if theyre already ill. Other treatments use synthetic antibodies.
Convalescent plasma, from recovered COVID-19 patients, is already being used in multiple trials. When you get a vaccine, you get something from the virus, and then you make your own antibodies, Arturo Casadevall, chair of the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, explained in a recent video. So, in the case of a vaccine, you are the factory. You make them and then you remember to keep making them. And thats why vaccines protect us for a long time. In this case, youre taking the antibodies that someone else made when they recovered, and then youre transferring them to a new person, so the new person gets them already made and can use them right away.

How about about a couple billion doses for HCQ+Z? With or without Zpack? OK? Is that all right with everybody?
Sorry, on anything related to Corona, I will not be taking any shots, vaccines, etc. It is way too obvious that they have no idea what they are doing, and there is more than ample evidence that government bureaucrats are enslaved to the interests of China and Bill Gates.
So hard pass, on ANYTHING they roll out.
PS, and I’m not an anti-vaxxer. But this is too far.
They are playing way too fast and loose, and have obvios contempt for the individual for me to entrust my precious corpus delecti to them.
Any time one hears the words”public health” one can be sure it is not a good idea for the individual but supposedly it is for the “greater good.”
RE: Is that all right with everybody?
It’s alright with me, it’s each individual state government’s LAWS and EXECUTIVE ORDERS one has to contend with.
This is getting stupid and the facts are right there in front of our faces.
Can anyone point me to a safe, commercially available vaccine for another coronavirus? How about for a rhinovirus or a adenovirus?
You can't because there isn't one.
There's not going to be a vaccine. The quicker everyone comes to that conclusion...the better off we'll be. I wish that our "leaders" and "experts" would just come right out and say it instead of leading people on with false hopes.
That goes for Trump and others saying that we'll go back to "normal" not new normal...um OK. Guess that will be proven one way or the other this coming fall flu season...or sooner.
No kidding. They havent even found a healthy one for either SARS I or MERS after all these years.
All a prudent person need do is go back 2 months, and every bit of medical advice is the opposite of that given out today.
They have no idea what they are doing, and this “pandemic” is purely political.

I was on a crew that flew in humanitarian relief to flood victims in Bangladesh back in the late 90s. We were tasked with the mission while in crew rest in Japan and we had a flight surgeon give us a gamma globulin shot with the biggest needle I had ever seen. We also had to take Chloroquine Phosphate pills just before we launched and for a couple of weeks after. Interesting how these drugs keep being mentioned.
Flu vaccines are feel-good medication for hypochondriacs. IMO
Yep. WHY is ANYONE dying if that is available??
