I was waiting in line to get the oil changed and I got out of my car without a mask and a lady(mid 50's) wearing a mask gave me the meanest look.
I think she took a picture of my license plate.
It bugs me that people feel the need to comment on that.
A few days ago, I had to make three stops a block away from each other. I have one of the real HDX, Home Depot N95 masks that go on over my head with elastic straps. I already had these masks, from probably a few years ago, in my shop in the basement. I was not about to take off my ball cap and remove the mask each time I get in the car and put it on again just to go into the next store. The person who saw me driving with the mask on, and made a snap judgment, I think is the actual fool.
Then to criticize that after the fact is more trifling than the most vacuous ingenue complaining in a snit of the off brand type of seltzer water or her exclusive, high priced, nail polish not available at the cosmetics counter as my wife pointed out.
Yeah, Caucasian idiots are very proud of their use of “Karen”.
Very.
Getting media support!
What could be better than that?
How about throwing in some “Blonde jokes”?
Just to make sure the media is happy with you.
I am beginning to wonder if “mark of the beast” was a typo for “mask of the beast.”
Although in the source language I suppose that would not have been the case.
In my experience, the mask phenomenon needs something like 30 to 50 per cent traction to become “normal” and anything lower than that will keep it unusual and shunned by most people.
I live in a small town with few known cases, although the full economic lockdown is in place here. The mask is seen occasionally but not very often.
Maybe there is a case to be made for it, but I don’t believe that case has been effectively made. This is a relatively bad health crisis but it’s not the black death and over-reaction should be avoided as much as overly complacent attitudes.
People have the right in a free society to assume risks. There is no government in free countries that ever gained an overt mandate from its people to prevent any harm or any risk from befalling any citizen. There is only one agency in the universe powerful enough to overcome death, and He does not come with (D), (R) or (Ind) after His name.
Whats up with the Karen reference? My wifes name is Karen and she does not wear those goofy masks.
A Karen is a busybody middle age woman who thinks only her opinion matters and everyone should bow to her demands.
Here’s more on that definition;

Thanks!
Adult language warning on this that explains how the Karen meme came about;

Great racist defense! Of course it doesn’t take much to defend against racism against Caucasians.
So many Negro and Hispanic women named “Karen”...
Thats excellent, nice find.
You married well!
We are learning firsthand how it was the STASI managed to recruit so many willing accomplices. I will admit I am now curious - what percentage were women?
One doesn’t even have to be white or even female to be a “Karen.” A “Karen” will get in a person’s face about not social distancing or wearing a mask. Has been known to even call the police on such “miscreants” especially if those “offenders” don’t care what the “Karen” thinks.
So many Negro and Hispanic women named Karen?
Gee, I’ve never met any... but you have!
Thanks for the info. = Here in the Alamo City until the last few weeks, I had never even heard the use of “Karen” in that way.= It’s evidently NOT a commonplace “name”/usage here in “The Capitol City of Latin America.”
Fwiw, I’ve know a pair of YL named Karen well since my long ago college DAZE & both were NICE people.
Yours, TMN78247
It’s so annoying these little masked up imbeciles can act out all of their fearful fantasies and can also be morally superior. I don’t wish them well let’s out it that way.
“. A masked older woman (70s maybe) passing me in the opposite direction yelled to me that she was wearing that mask for me. I yelled back: Make America Great Again!.. then she gave me the finger”
Could have been my Aunt. Big lefty living large on Maui. Then again leftist are a dime a dozen in Hawaii.
Last week in a Walmart, a Karen of Kolor store employee bitched at me for walking down an aisle in the wrong direction. I should have pointed out that her physical proportions were such that socialist distancing would have been impossible.
My wife and I had our 25th wedding anniversary plans to be in Fairbanks the first week of April. When the mandatory quarantine happened in Alaska we had to cancel everything, very disappointing, but glad to hear things are getting back to the real normal there.
From a post I made yesterday:
“I am busy with my ornithology research, so am in the field several hours every day. Some lady sees my car pulled over as I go to check a nestbox grid and asks if everything is okay. I told her about my research and she says Shouldnt you have a mask on?.
I said I was more apt to get West Nile Virus from a mosquito bite - and *it* doesnt spread via respiratory means - than being infected from SARS-CoV-2 doing field research. She really thinks wearing a mask in public means *everywhere* outside in public. Its just a waste of a mask and useless to wear in certain situations”
