A group of North Carolina residents has started a "Burn Your Mask Challenge" to show their disapproval for Gov. Roy Cooper's plan to potentially make face mask mandatory.
A Facebook group called Reopen NC is encouraging its members to burn their masks and take videos of it. The group's co-founder, Ashley Smith's video has gone viral among the local community.
“Today I’m going to say loud and clear, ‘I will not comply. I do not consent,'” Smith said, per the local news outlet WWAY. “I can’t think a more poignant way to say we’re going to resist the muzzle than to just light one on fire.”
Smith was driven to come up with the challenge as the governor's office, along with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), is reportedly considering introducing the mandatory wearing of face mask after North Carolina's present reopening phase ends this June.

Now I get why a lot of women during the 70’s got so excited about Bra-Burning. It’s a symbolic act of defiance.

Yes, let the people in big Democrat cities burn their masks. People in rural areas and isolated small towns know that masks don’t slow down legitimate, non-vice retail businesses. They only slow down businesses that employ and cater to the “woke.” Masks are irrelevant in construction and manufacturing except as safety devices protecting against dust and other particles. There’s plenty of ventilation in construction and manufacturing.
It will catch.
Oh, and doctors and nurses—especially in COVID-19 wards—should burn their masks, too, because they don’t work.
These days its ok for all the guys to participate!

No, just be sure that when you have a surgical procedure that you require that the surgeon and medical staff not wear masks.
So, are masks required in parts of NC right now? What about at the Outer Banks?
YES! Nationwide great idea!
If people don’t understand that they need to regularly wash their face masks with soap and water to kill SARS-CoV-2 trapped in moisture in the fabric, then although it gets expensive buying new masks, burning the masks will kill the virus in my non-medical opinion. /semi-sarc
I still question if maintenance-ignored masks might be the “loose cannon” accounting for the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in California.
And if such is the case, then just stop wearing the masks in my non-medical opinion.
Artificial lighting urbanities need to start taking vitamin D3 regularly to boost their immune system in my non-medical opinion, particularly in winter.
I wear a mask as infrequently as possible, so virtually never. The other day I was the only person inside a big box store. A store associate asked :do you have a mask?”
“No”
And then he proceeded to help me.

The Democratic Party had their little looting fiasco but now they see that is over so they’re like oh shit let’s get back to this coronavirus thing !!! and try to carry this all the way until November so we can destroy the economy
