CNN — Nick Cordero, a Broadway actor who had admirers across the world rallying for his recovery, has died after a battle with COVID-19 according to his wife, Amanda Kloots.

He was 41.

"God has another angel in heaven now," Kloots posted on her official Instagram account Sunday night. "My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth."

Kloots has been regularly updating her social media accounts with news of her husband's ups and downs as he battled the virus and complications, including an amputated leg and potentially needing a double lung transplant. She said Cordero battled the disease for 95 days.

She shared on social media that Cordero spent some time on a ventilator, suffered multiple COVID-19 complications, including mini-strokes, blood clots, sepsis, and a tracheostomy. In April had to have his leg amputated. He had been on a ventilator and unconscious, and his lungs were so heavily damaged that a double lung transplant was being explored.

Not exactly true. We haven’t found there are things we should try first instead of the vent. We skipped several steps we usually take because of the fear of aerosolizing the virus with NIPPV and HF. We now are back to doing what we usually do and the mortality is equivalent to other forms of ARDS

Wonder if the doctors messed up.
Not like that would be the first time.

Media needs to scare us about COVID as the death rate is less than the seasonal flu.

I can give you horror stories about the seasonal flu. And I can give you good news stories about COVID. But the media won’t broadcat those.

If you are afraid of something it is unreasonable for you to impose your fears no matter how well founded on everyone. The corollary becomes I am afraid of getting anything so instead of taking response off for myself and doing what I need for my own perceived security I demand infringement on your liberty for my comfort. I can only imagine the bottom of that slippery slope.

Those who would trade lliberty for security deserve neither.

Although Cordero fell ill in early March, his symptoms were initially intermittent and didn’t seem to align with those frequently associated with COVID-19. “He could not get out of bed, so tired, no energy, that was really his only symptom,” she told BuzzFeed News at the time.

Hm. Definitely sounds like he had something entirely different. And considering all the stories about false positives, fake positives, common cold positives, I'm guessing his third test was incorrect.

So they tested him twice, got negatives, then finally got a positive on the third try, so did they do any more testing to confirm the positive? Or was that the end of it? (Probably, since that's all the hospital needs to get their stimulus dollars out of him!)

Everyone can laugh at me. I don’t care. My husband has COPD and heart disease. If I get COVID19, he gets it. If he gets it, well, we are minimizing that chance as much as possible. We have been staying put for over 3 months. An occasional drive-thru or visit from my son is about the extent of our interactions with others. Getting groceries delivered is probably our maximum exposure. Staying home is not hurting me but going to the store could kill someone I love, for no good reason.
I do not judge others for how they are dealing with this. I support communities being fully open. We are capable of being responsible for our own safety. I wish I would get the same courtesy.

The cdc still hasnt teased out what exactly the groups are...sure...over sixty five...but what about a healthy 65?
There has to be some constitutional condition Which makes one susceptible to death. Why are there young people dying?. Do all people who contract it live or work in high density situations? Their lack of stratification of risk factors after all tbis time is upsetting.

It appears the COVID dx was missed that resulted in improper treatment. That’s not saying much because he was an early victim and there was not much known.

Yeah, that was the thought that occurred to me. I’ve only heard of sepsis coming from unsanitary conditions in hospitals. There’s just a lot of things going on with this guy at one time and yet..his death is now listed as covid.

I am not afraid of getting just ANYTHING, I am afraid of getting COVID-19. And as I stated, I will stop grocery shopping, therefore taking full responsibility for my own health without infringing on anyone’s “liberty“ to be a jerk.

Oh BS. you are of counting those over 60 who get the disease and have no symptoms and never seek care. The ICU rate is nowhere near 35% and the death rate over 80 is still in single digits and that is overblown as well. I am very close to 60 and have other risk factors abs I take care of covid patients all the time at work. I am not afraid and do not wear a mask or distance outside work nor do I demand others do so. Hide under your bed and live in a bubble just leave the rest of us alone

By the way your chance id dying from influenza and pneumonia is higher than a young persons as well. Are you going to act like this every cold and flu season? or is this special only to covid?

If he could have had hydroxychloriquine, an antibiotic and zinc, he could have survived.

Another death because of Comrade Cuomo. I really hate living in this state and city.

Wow are you sure you’re conservative because YOU SOUND LIKE SUCH A LITTLE BITCH.

And a pretty miserable person to be honest.

I’m glad you’re not blood.

I’d get a transfusion :)

There are so many worse things than covid out there and influenza is nearly as bad. Better make it permanent. Oh by the way masks do not prevent the spread of disease so if you are really afraid I would add a face shield gown and gloves to your mask. All single use except the face shield can be wiped down with a viricidal wipe .I hope you get over your fear because living in fear must really stink. By all means take whatever precautions make you feel better but remember - those who fit the disease in New York were largely those who stayed in and distanced. There are no guarantees in life

Just curious...are your patients required to wear masks to enter your office? My doctor requires them. No one without one is permitted inside. I am not permitted to enter my veterinarian’s office without one. How about your office?

Exactly. We have already had one death in my wife’s family from this. We don’t want to be the next.

Don’t most doctors who work in hospitals also have a practice?

Not every single person who dies of the Wuhan Virus has a comorbidity. I click on these threads to see how soon someone posts a comment similar to yours. It’s hysterical.
