The beef restaurant in the city of Changsha placed two large scales at its entrance this week.
It then asked diners to enter their measurements into an app that would then suggest menu items accordingly.
Signs reading "be thrifty and diligent, promote empty plates" and "operation empty plate" were pinned up.

Boy, people eating alone are gonna be hacked off.
Liberals will be torn over whether this is discriminatory fat shaming or brilliant social policy.
That would be some slim pickings for any party of one.

The “You eat too much.... you go now” skit was supposed to be a joke and not an instruction manual. 1984 and Animal Farm have become instruction manuals too so I guess it is par for the course.
They aren’t even trying to pretend that the food situation is ok anymore. The flooding has been biblical over there. And to save the big cities and the Three Gorges Dam, they have been diverting floodwaters onto farmland. The rain upstream of the 3GD let up a bit last week but it has picked back up. They are running out of places to put the water.

The remedy: Always get food to go. Esp. Chinese!
