Damn...saw Van Halen when they opened for Black Sabbath must of been like 79.
RIP Eddie you were one of the best.
A lot of teenage boys took up playing the guitar because of EVH.
Probably the most common way after tobacco products, but the least talked about. Many guys from the 70s and 80s that were with a lot of women, and did that frequently have suffered the same fate. A health crisis rarely discussed.

I saw an interview of Eddie a few years ago, and he said he was done with music. Eddie just did not care anymore and was past it.
The interviewer asked what do you do these days? I was surprise to learn Eddie had been listening to a lot of talk radio. I suspect Eddie became a closet conservative.

Was just talking on this forum earlier today how Van Halen had one of the best debut albums in rock history. I got that album (actually on 8-track cassette) the summer of 1979 and would turn it up to max volume in my father's 1968 Newport Chrysler. I was barely 17 and had just gotten my license. That summer, it was Van Halen, The Cars and The Knack. Good memories.

Wore out Van Halen cassettes as a kid. That was a long time ago.
I met him years ago. We talked at a hotel lounge for hours with a small group of his traveling circle amid a tour A charming man. He loved his son, a baby then, sooooooo much. I just happened to recognize him that night and his contingent invited me to sit. At the end of the night, he said it was one of the best nights (no frauds) he had in a long time. Rest in peace you legend! Thanks for a memorable night, too

DLR actually takes pretty good care of himself, at least since the 80s. His voice may be shot, but he still looks good for his age.
