The animated comedy series Futurama is set to receive a 20-episode revival to air on Hulu, with creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen on board.
'I’m thrilled to have another chance to think about the future … or really anything other than the present,' Cohen said in a statement.
Groening said, 'It’s a true honor to announce the triumphant return of Futurama one more time before we get canceled abruptly again.'
Also on board for the revival are voice actors Billy West and Katey Sagal, in addition to Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman.
West tweeted Wednesday: 'Good news everybody! Hulu is rolling out 20 brand new episodes of "Futurama!" I’ve had separation anxiety!'
John DiMaggio, who provided the voice of the character Bender, is not signed on to the project but still in talks to return, Variety reported.
The series, which initially debuted on Fox in 1999, was canceled in 2003, and later revived by Comedy Central in 2007 until it ended its most recent run in 2013.
Hulu and ABC Entertainment president of originals Craig Erwich said in a statement that 'when presented with the opportunity to bring fans and viewers new episodes of Futurama, we couldn’t wait to dive in.
'This iconic series helped blaze the trail for the success of adult animation since its initial launch and we look forward to Matt & David continuing to pave the way and further establishing Hulu as the premiere destination for fans of the genre.'

Will it be “woke”?
I wouldn’t doubt it.
Disenchantment, season 4, Netflix
Sounds like what I read of Arrested Development the second time around. Not that great but a few good bits though.
Billy West gets some more paychecks.
Too bad Bender2 isn’t here to see this.
Boy, that’s the truth.
I thought it ended well.
Good closure on the Frey-Leela romance.
Hard to see where it rationally goes from there!
Oh boy, a whole new opportunity to slam conservatives.
Well.... you caught me, I didn’t watch the whole reboot. I watched the first series religiously, the jokes were science based and I liked the humor.
I watched a couple of the reboots and they were all... lower grade humor... or at least that’s what I think I remember.
‘course I myself just went for a gold on record number of “That’s what she said” jokes on one FR thread.
Maybe I’ll go check the reboot out again.
I detected the lower grade humor too. I didn’t think it was that bad, I viewed as an attempt to expand audience appeal. If that was what it took to keep it on TV, then so be it. Like I said it didn’t break my threshold.
You can’t ruin something that wasn’t funny in the first place. Like watching the Simpsons post 1997.
